Hello all
has anyone had a Fentons procedure in the Uk ? Did it help and did it improve the appearance of the vulval area.
I have a seven year history of LS.
Still using Clob twice weekly with vagifem.
Any feedback would be appreciated
Thank you from Violet

Hi Violet, I understand removing scar tissue doesn't guarantee it won't come back. Is the Clob helping?

"A Fenton's procedure is an operation to remove scar tissue or an area of constriction around the entrance to the perineum and entrance to the vagina. Why should I have a Fenton's procedure? Your health professional may recommend this procedure to help relieve pain during intercourse if it is caused by scar tissue".
You can google anything.

Hello All
Thank you for your replies. Yes the clob works but I dont like using it as it doesnt seem or feel natural .
It is as Beverly has said. An operation to remove a tight band of scar tissue and yes it may return which is why I was
wondering if there are any success or otherwise stories.
My NHS gynae surgeon has offered me this, but a tiny nagging doubt asks me what if it gets worse....... (not great!!)
Also he can unfuse but again it might re-fuse one day
There is an NHS leaflet about the procedure on their patient information websites.
It is an operation also used to release tight scar tissue after childbirth.
Thank you all for sharing . We are all looking for answers and the support here is truly wonderful.

Hi Violet.
I am 37 years old. I've had LS since my teens diagnosed late 20's.
I've had the Fenton procedure.
It was the best thing I've ever done.
i can now have intercourse without bleeding and pain.
Hope things work out for you.

Hi Laura
thank you very much for your reply . I am so pleased you had a great result. Was it very sore afterwards and did you have unfusing done as well ?
Was this in the Uk .
Lastly do you still use the Clob.
Thank you again and well done for your success.

Hi Violet,
Yes i have had it! I had it in February 2018. At the same time (and please excuse my use of language as i can't remember the technical terms) I had some skin which was covering my ureatha also removed and my labia? at the top sort of remade (it had fused completely). So quite a lot done. Im now 46 years. I know the outcome is different for everyone but personally I have absolutely no regrets. That said I had an absolutely amazing surgeon who I trusted fully. He was also aware that the end aesthetic was important to me. I needed the operation as could no long urinate sitting upright, I had to bed over and orgasm was very difficult. The entrance of my vagina troubled me less as I am gay, that said it really does feel more comfortable. He also carried out a smear whilst I was under as i have been unable to have one for quite a number of years. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.
Please make sure you have an EXCELLENT surgeon/gyny.
Rachael.

i had a FENTONS procedure yesterday, and a biopsy of LS area. as you can imagine im very sore but having suffered for 20 years without realising what it was im looking forward to a comfortable future! been prescribed DERMOVATE and VEGIFAM so hopefully all will be well.
im 57 and joked with my husband that i was healing up, now i know it was really happening. wasted 20 years, wished id known about all this sooner ...

pk, were you seeing gynecologists for those 20 years? If so, was was the diagnosis? Were they recommending creams, dilators or anything to help? It sounds as if all drs do is prescribe steroids, hope for the best, then if it doesn't work they go to painful surgery...which doesn't last. Something is very wrong with this approach IMO. Seems barbaric.
There is another discussion going on about this type of surgery, but not sure if the name of the procedure was used. Something that has come up in the other discussion is the O shot which I would recommend you all research. It involves using platelets from your own blood. Sounds like a much simpler and less painful way to solve these fusing problems. I first came across it several years ago online, but assumed it was only being done in the UK. It did not occur to me that it would help LS, but I hadn't been diagnosed with it at that time.

Clob is short for Clobetasol.. it's a steroid cream or ointment.
