Fever and acute pancreatitis

Someone please help me understand this acute pancreatitis. My fiancé has been in the ICU for 14 days now. His lipase, vitals and other organs are all getting better. However he's very lethargic and has a temp of 103. I feel like I can't get any answers and I am beside myself. My fiancé had delirium on top of everything so his mentality isn't back either. I'm so beyond stressed and feel like he's going to pass on me every other day. This sickness has been such a roller coaster. One day good one day bad! Is a temp something that comes with this sickness??? Tylenol doesn't seem to help and his white cell count isn't coming down fast enough. Anyone who can help comfort me, or give me a reality check. Just want my b.f back home with me sad hard to feel like this might not be the case.

Hi,I am sorry to hear this and your words ring loud and clear to me and it's all sounds very familiar and indeed my wife could have wrote your post. If you read my post from a few days ago it will explain my story of severe acute pancreatitas ;which sounds like what your bf is suffering with atm,it's a horrible illness and it has took me over 2 years to recover . Can I just ask you how old is your partner and have they told you the cause ,ie gallstones alcohol etc? Without wanting to sound like an expert there isn't nothing I haven't learned or read about sap the last few years so ask me any questions you like and I will try and answer them. The most important thing I can say at the moment is you need to stay strong as does your partner because it is going to be tough going at times and the delirium is something that I suffered from but it is really to do with all the drugs that I would imagine they have him on atm so the person your seeing isn't the one you know. Like I say ask anything and I will try my best to answer x

Sorry it took so long to reply, I thank you for your info. He has severe pancreatitis and is still in the hospital, 3 weeks now. I get so frustrated at times, you know how hopitals are. Some nurses don't do a damn thing, some are put out, others are amazing. And it seems we have a different dr every other day. How and the heck can they even get to know the patient? His is from his triglycerides being 9000!!! And from regular alcohol consumption. Some keep saying ohh,the delirium is still the withdrawals, but geez 3 weeks! I also feel like I never get the whole report of what's going on. He has a drain now and that seemed to help a bit, if the lab results come back loaded with bacteria he might have to have 2 more. I hope you are doing well these days! If all goes well, it looks like we have a long road ahead of us sad life can change so fast! Btw, he hasn't had a fever in 2 days, hope it continues that way. Tomorrows a new day, fingers crossed for good results. So scared every day I walk into the hospital.

So very sorry your fiance is going through this.  My experience with pancreatitis is not as bad as his; I have chronic pancreatitis.  First, has your fiance signed a consent so that the doctors/nurses can fully discuss his condition with you?  If so, ask for a sit down meeting with the doctor and take your list of questions and concerns.  I am finding that this ugly disease is wide and varied.

I'm sorry I cannot help with any further information and I just don't know.  Hopefully others with more insight can help you.  Sending prayers.

Sorry to hear about you fiancé. I had acute pancreatitis two and a half years ago. Ended up in the hospital four days. It was the worst time in my life. I was also very tired and slept almost the entire time. No pain mess they have help at the hospital even morphine. I have had another attack but much less severe. Funny enough IBU 800 mg does the trick. It stops pain and inflammation within 30 minutes. Only if he hospital knew this. Keep praying for him. I know when I came out of just the regular hospital not icu It took me six weeks to be able to stand upright. Came home with oxygen. And couldn't PooP for two weeks. I found organic prune juice moved things along. About the temp. It is normal to have a team with panc. Did he have blood cultures done. Maybe he has an infection. ?

Thanks for your response. Tomorrow we are goin on 3 weeks and he is still in the hospital. They finally out in a drain to help with the fluid. As for an infection, he does have one sad we are just waiting to see what it is. He had pneumonia so he's already on an anti B. And he still has delirium. Been so scary and I know it can get worse. I just want him better already. His fevers went done the minute they put in the drain and his white cell count has dropped a bit. Trying to stay positive, that's all I have right now. Thanks again! Best of health to you:

Just wondering what the outcome was of your situation ? I am going through something similar with a loved one. In the Sicu for 4 weeks. Abdomen finally closed after needed decompressive laparotomy for abd compartmental syndrome. Has an abscess being drained. Recently taken off sedation but still vented and delirious. Fever has not gone down 102-103 for over 3 weeks now. Tylenol and 4+ antibiotics do not seem to help. Feeling hopeless.
