Fever with diverticular disease and othr questions

Hi ann I to felt like I was getting UTI after my first attack I started drinking cranberry juice and went to doctor I was told no UTI just inflammation but to this day I still feel like I have UTI I get up several times a night to p and several times a day so far no good answer from docs GI said inflammation my colon was still angry l have stopped the night sweats that lasted a couple weeks My second flare up about 3 weeks after my first I went to hospital cat scan showed infection and the doctor said you can't keep coming to the hospital you need to figure out what antibiotics work for you with your primary care physician????

Hi Ann,  I do believe it's common to have UTI along with diverticulitis.  I have read of others on this forum who mention it.  My dr. asked me both times I had my flare ups if I was having any urinary problems.  Fortunately for me that has not been a problem.  If you have been dealing with this since April, I would recommend going forward with the Colonoscopy ASAP.  The CT scan shows problem exists, but the colonoscopy pinpoints exactly what is going on inside your intestine.  I am sure when I see GI specialist Friday she will want to schedule colonoscopy as soon as she thinks it's safe to do.  I just want to get to the root of this problem and get with a treatment plan that will alleviate the discomfort and allow me to feel normal again.   good luck to you Ann.

Oh how much i understand whats happening to you.  I think dr is starting with cystoscopy for bladder pain and frequency and they want to do virtual colonoscopy next.  Im petrified of drs and hospitals and suffer anxiety also being treated for it.  Do you think these tests will confirm whats wrong?  Imhave nausea each morning too since gallbladder removed. A real mess and not able to live normallly.

Hi ann I hope they get to the bottom of your discomfort I don't have nausea You poor thing I hope someone is with you to help You are in my prayers Until I was diagnosed with DD my health was good I don't know a lot about gallbladder and other gut problems You will b included in my prayers!

Yes I had symptoms of UTI after my last batch of DD flares.  GP confirmed that DD can irritate the bladder causing the symptoms.  There is also a condition called Irritable Bladder Syndrome.  I got some dip strips online and when I get the symptoms, I do a dip to see if there are leucocytes in my wee or the white cell count is up.  Those mean that yes there is a bladder infection and I need antibiotics.  Otherwise the bladder is just irritated and it subsides after a couple of days.

I too was scared at first but if the doctors had suspected anything sinister you would not have been made to wait so long.  Here in the UK if anything sinister is suspected you have to be seen within 2 weeks, and I was.  I was all clear, just severe DD.  DD is manageable unless you are real unlucky.  I have managed for getting on for 18 years with no need for surgery and just 6 flares.  I have been pain free for almost a year now since my attack in August 2016.

Hi Felina, my colonoscopy showed severe Diverticulosis in 3spots of colon, plus diverticulitis induced IBS. So I here it’s all about diet. I’m not in flare up thank god, but definitely want to do everything I can to avoid one. So What’s your Diet? And suggestions? I never had fever or UTI problems with my flare up. Just lower left back, hip, buttocks and leg pain. 

Well vickie I did myself in ate a fried pork chop last night not 5 minutes later crazy diahrea up most of the night still in bed with crazy diahrea pain will do liquid diet for a couple days GRRRR

Grrrrr, So sorry sweetie, I had coffee the other day big mistake! So dealt with diarrhea and tummy 😖. Took Imodium to help. Has your doctor taken stool samples to rule out c-diff, Candida, parasites and other bugs of tummy? I’d make sure you get that done also SIBO test. Dr says I have Diverticulitis induced IBS and my SIBO test was positive so back on antibiotics. I wrote you on another comment kinda vented to ya. Hi my doc hasn't done any stool test for 3 years I will ask She thinks I have H pylori infection in my stomach and said we will deal with that after we get my colon under control Boy all this gut stuff is overwhelming 😔

Hpylori needs attention right away it can spread without antibiotics, and maybe that’s what’s making you sick on top of the DD, also check for IBS. Sorry you are going through all this hope you get good results and answers this week. Be praying for ya. Keep me posted. 🙏🤗🌸🌺

Thanks vickie doc said really harsh antibiotics intravenously in the hospital 2 days then 10 days at home with antibiotics She said she wants me to get a little healthier before we start this WTF

I would think the antibiotics would of taken care of the H pylori? Interesting. 

I asked her while on antibiotics twice in short amount of time why H pylori didn't clear she said it's one of the hardest infections to treat and requires different types of antibiotics l googled SIBO could it get any worse for you Hon I hope not you can't eat hardly nothing Keep chin up it has to get better 😊
