Diarrhea along with nausea, vomiting and sweating are very common when you have severe vertigo attack.

Thank you Tanney. What did the rehab consist of exactly? What did the physical therapist do and were there home exercises?
I just got a referral from Kaiser for a Kaiser Permanente PT for specific vestibular therapy. She is on the vestibular.org site as certified for these conditions, and one of the few in the SF Bay area - so I'm interested to see how she differs from the last Kaiser PT over a year ago.. who wasn't bad - but did a variety of manuevers to test for BPPV, which is wasn't, and shook my head, looking at my eyes etc.... was very thorough but came up with nothing. Just to take dramamine.
Thanks!
Maggie

The Rehab protocol will depend on what has been causing your imbalance. If your diagnosis (after going through balance disorder testing) is Meniere's Disease as mine is (bilateral) then the Rehab would likely consist of the following:
1. One visit each week with the therapist
2. Exercises must be done on your own EVERY day during the week until next appointment
3. The exercises that are chosen by the therapist are to enhance the EYE/brain balance function that needs to replace the INNER EAR/brain balance function. The inner ear/brain balance function is no longer working for MD patients and needs to be replaced with the EYE/brain function. All of the exercises you will be given are with the intent of strengthening this eye/brain balance function. The exercises are easy to do and take only about 10-15 minutes each day. As you progress through the therapy sessions the exercises will become more difficult but are still fairly easy to do. Most MD vestibular rehab will consist of approx 8 visits over 8 weeks. You will need to do the exercises, however, for the rest of your life....at least twice/week. Let me know if there is anything more you would like to know and I'll be glad to reply. GOOD LUCK.

I am in Sacramento. My ENT is at Mather VA Med Ctr. I am currently going through vestibular rehab, also at Mather. I also get nauseous from time to time. I don't have a head bounce, just constant dizziness interrupted by bouts of vertigo.
