fiber cast is unconforteble: should i ask the plaster or try another?

hi

to make the story short i fractured my ankle 2 years ago.  wasn't bad but when the cast came off i was still in pains. i never recovered, even after a ligament reconstruction surgery.

8 months ago i overdid and caused stress fractures (osteoporosis),  back in the cam boot and crutches. once again the pains told me that recovery wasn't complete, infact 2 months ago i refractured the same ankle.

i broke tarsal bones in the foot and the malleolis, again not bad breaks and no surgery.

the plastering process has been painful but the long plaster proved effective and my ankle felt so well in it. only last week (week n.6) i felt the cast a bit loose.

the plan was 4 more weeks in short cast nwb and 5 weeks short cast fwb.

but at cast change the ankle was still painful so they decided to go safe with another long cast but in fiberglass, even if i had told that i prefer the plaster one.

cast application was less painful and at beginning it felt reasonably ok with good padding.

but after 4 days my ankle still hurts and the cast feels unconfortable, sometimes i have a burning sensation at the heel.

i allready called the bone clinic but i wonder what would be better?

i'd like to avoid another long leg plaster even if i know is the best for my slow healing bones. but i'm also dubious about another fiber cast having seen my experiences with them. and i don't think they will allow me to go with the below-knee plaster as it has been denied just 4 days ago.

Honestly you just have to deal with it. I’m 15 and broke my tibia and fibula about 2 weeks ago. I had 5 screws put into my tibia and I’m in a fibreglass cast. It’s uncomfortable at times but way better then how I felt sitting in the ER with a broken leg. I had a plaster cast and it was more comfortable but also felt tighter on certain parts of my foot. You are just gonna have to deal with the feeling and stay off your foot for a long time. The doctors told me I can return to sports in 3 months, but I’m waiting 5 months to do so. Just stick it out and struggle now so you are better later. Struggle today, enjoy tomorrow.

      well

i think it's not good to be in pains and disconfort if you can avoid it.

i had the fiber cast changed with another plaster cast, the application has been painful but now my ankle feels great.

it turned out that the fiber cast didn't fit properly. even if the cast man was careful the fiber dried too quickly.

this one is eavier but a better solution at this point.
