I was diagnosed with fibro in may and i was working nights so i had to reduce my hours. Then i started to look for a new job and got on working days 28 hours a week and i only started 3 weeks ago and i am already off sick today is my 2nd day. I dont know what to do i went through occupational assesment for the job but i am unsure they have let HR Or my boss know. I am in so much pain its had me in tears? Whats the best way forward? Do i tell work i doubt they will reduce my hours as i am on a 6 month probatonary period. Or do i just give up and tell them i cant do the job and try and sort myself out i have even tried getting my rhums app earlier but no hope? Whist the job is new shall i quit?

    Hi there sandra

can you afford to quit is the first thing you need to ask yourself as jobs are hard to come by, can i ask what sort ow work you do ??? Also you could metion that you are still having problems or look round for a new job before you quit then at least you have found something else first, speak to your thearpist and ask to be refered to a pain clinic and see if the can help with the pain so it will help you forward sending my love and best wishes

So today i finally bit the bullet and put all my cards on the table and told my new employer over my fibro. I asked her if HR had told her about it and she said no. I explained what i am going through and she wants to sit down on monday and discuss my working hours. I was so anxious and alot off people seem to think fibro is not real. Fingers crossed things go ok

I was in a job where I was working 40 hours and we started out slow, but because of  all the meds and being tired and hurting so much it was affecting my job. Then I told them what was going on and then it seemed they were out to get me. So my husband and I had to make a decision for me to leave my job. I really couln't afford it and borrowing from life insurance and 401k so it's very frustrating. I had been written up 4 times and I felt that 2 of them were totally unfare. It's not worth fighting, so I went out on my own with my head up high!! It's hard making these decisions! I applied for disabilty here in the USA but it will take forever, that was Oct 31,2014 and least 4 months for them to even look at it, what about you?

I am still awaiting my fibro to be confirmed by my rhumetology dr and my appointment is on christmas eve. I am in constant pain at night with my legs and so sore and tired out in the day. I hope the new employers will stand by me but i cannot forsee the future. I have been in tears the last few days with the pain and was really low stating id rather be dead than be in this way. Whatever happened to the girl who worked 40 hour weeks and was full off life im 31 now and feel about 90 :-(  I hope u get disability the wait here is approx 13 weeks from what iv been told. I dont like to tell ppl about my fibro because alot off people judge it x

Sometimes it takes 1 year to 2 years depending on each individual case. I hope since I'm 60 and have worked 42 years full time plus I hope they consider my case without a question.  The pain never stops! I feel for you and prayers to you Ms Sandy! I remember the tears at work and then someone would ask me if I ws okay, not a question to ask. Then they would say maybe you should go home. Yeah that's what I was written up for 3 days off in 90 days in handbook, what a lie I read the whole thing. NOPLACE did it say that. They were so concerned then where are the phone calls now! What a joke!

You know tru friends when you have them.

I hope they hurry things on for you and you get your disability sorted soon. I always say and find the ones that have worked all their life and have paid into the system eg.. National insurance and tax are those who seem to get nothing back. Hope it works out for u x

    Hello Sandra,

So sorry to hear you are experiencing these problems at work. I replied to you on another post, and it certainly does sound like Fibro, even tho' you haven't been diagnosed. Hopefully you can reduce your hours and cope with that. Sadly employers can be harsh and not understand. In fact it is very difficult for anyone who doesn't experience it to understand!

Again I wish you good luck

    Take care, Anne

Well I had to reduce my hours because of the fibro and then I just kept getting worse so I was written up for to much time off! They said in the handbook 1 day allowed every 90 days so I went along with that and signed the write up. (found out later that wasn't even in the handbook) Then I was written up because I typed a prescripton wrong and was told the pharmacist is green(new) and it was my responsibility to catch those kind of things to basically protect his license, so I tried to explain my blurry vision and apologized and signed the write up. Amazing that someone that may make 40 dollars plus a hour and have 5-6 years of school isn't responsible but I am as a technician with no education but my experience, I'm suppose to be perfect.  Seriously I have been in the business for 42 years and everyone unfortunately makes errors(there is no perfect) and it happens in every aspect of life. I believe for disclosing my private information to them made the situation worse for me in my position. I was getting worse and worse because of all the pain, migraines and all other things that go along with fibromyalgia. I was at the company for about 4 or 5 months and they didn't want to work with me and I believe they also wanted to get rid of me because of what I was getting paid. Sadly enough the operations manager texted me and said things different behind the big boss back, but I quit and walked out with my head high before I was going to probably get fired for something.(maybe just breathing the wrong way) Even with all my pain and everything going on I tried my hardest and that is what counts and I could of turned the operations manager in, even to this day I have the information but I am not that kind of person.  I know you have a situation that reminds me of what I was going through, I just hope you have better luck then myself. I pray Sandra for you and your job and your pain. God bless you for keep going I know how hard it really is and only someone going through the same situation can understand.
