Fibroid treatment and different types of fibroids

I've known now for two years that I've had fibroids (quite a few of them). They were diognosed when I had an ovarian cyst removed. All felt ok but over the last couple of months I've had stomach pains, generally a week before my period, during my period and around 2 weeks after. The feeling of fullness, bloating and needing to per more has got worse also. Had another scan at hospital and the ruddy things have grown-from this I had a letter from the hospital detailing what fibroids I have, these include; anterior wall fibroid measuring 9.4cm, a pedunculated fibroid measuring 7 cm, an intramural fibroid and a sub- serosal fibroid. I've got a follow up appointment the begining of October to discuss treatment options. I'm hoping they take them out. I also had to have a smear test, which was awful. I'm sure she mentioned something about polyps as well but I haven't had a clear diognosed of these yet. Just looking at advice on treatment options and how people cope when they have these ruddy things.

There are a few options other than Hysterctomy.
UFE where they shrink it ( mine w ent from 11cm to 7.5.
There is also Myomectomy which removes the fibroid only.
Steer clear of hormone injections they give you an extreme dose of the Menopause ( gyn have them to me hoping it would change my mind and I would have a Hysterectomy) no such luck for him as I was having hot flushes every 10 Mins including during the night and getting no sleep.
Luckily I was out of work at the time. If i. Had a job I would have lost it. So I would not recommend hormone injections.
Steer clear of Endometrial Ablation also as that can make the Fibroid symptoms worse.
My advice Myomectomy or UFE is the way to go. I have never regretted it.
Good luck

Hello,
I have about 7 (or at least that's what's showing up on the MRI so far) with the largest being 12 com. Most of mine are intramural and subserosal and my options were:
Lupron: shrinks fibroids (2 years) but puts you in menopause then hopefully do surgery
Myomectomy- but my OB wasn't confident that he would put my uterus back together and told me that I had an 85% chance that I'd end up with a hysterectomy.
No thank you.
I opted for a second and third opinion and so I am going to see another doctor in my network and I'm waiting on approval to see a fibroid specialist in La Jolla, CA. I'm hoping for the specialist because he specializes in abdominal/open myomectomies.
My advice, get more than one opinion, do your research, and ask lot's of questions.
