Fibroids and alternative symptoms to normal

Hi all, I'm looking for some advice and input regarding fibroids and their symptoms. I recently found out I have a large 11cm fibroid on the outside of my uterus. Can I ask if anybody has had any symptoms aside from the normal heavy bleeding etc. Has anyone experienced any issues with circulation particularly to the hands? Also any feelings of general illness?
Thanks in advance

Sorry to hear about your problems. It sounds very familiar. I had dreadful circulation problems due to anaemia caused by the amount of blood feeding the fibroid I had. I am now finding the problem has returned along with a whole new bunch of fibroids.
I was cold all the time, had pins and needles/numbness in my hands and general tearful lethargy alongside dreadful heavy periods/ clotting in between.
Have you been given any treatment plan for your fibroids?
My advice would be keep being persistant and proactive - noone else will be if you don't.
I hope you get treated quickly. I am waiting for a date for a hysterectomy now.

I have an appointment this Friday with a specialist due to the size and my age (I'm 30). My plan is to ask him about my symptoms and if they can be linked before I go back to the doctors. If he tells me they are absolutely not related then I'm worried about what it can be. The tingly blue veiny hands are a new thing to me but I guess it could be because the fibroid has grown more. I also have a numb thigh when I lay down.
I've had a doctor who said "oh fibroids don't worry about them they won't be causing you any symptoms", to one who has said they could be related to another who said "what you are experiencing could be your symptoms".
I just don't know any more I am worried though that I could potentially be ignoring another health issue becuase I am being brushed off because it could be the fibroid!

Sorry to hear you are suffering from fibroids. I also have a large (14cm) fibroad on a stalk outside my uterus. I'm glad to say I am finally after years of battling with doctors having it removed in January. I have always had poor circulation and low blood pressure but developed aneamia as a teenager due to heavy periods and noticed my hands in particular get even colder when I have a period. I have been taking transexamic acid since March to stop the heavy bleeding and since then my iron levels have improved and my hands weren't getting so cold.
I had to see my doctor today and I mentioned that I am feeling the cold more than usual and the first thing he has done is test my iron again as he suspects due to other medication I've been taking it may be low.
I agree with Jaspy - you need to be proactive in getting treatment. I'm lucky I've found a very good GP who has done a lot extra to get me seen by the right doctors and has gone against the first gynea consultant I saw (who diagnosed endometrosis and stated I didn't have a fibroid based on an internal ultrasound and of course it is on the outside which I knew from a previous consultant I saw before moving to the area). Also be careful if you are taking painkillers - I've taken naproxen for 7 years and it has caused damage to my stomach even though I was always good at taking with food.
I hope you get sorted soon. Take care
