Fibroids,Cerazette and painful bleedings

Hello,

I am 42 and my pelvic reveals a 3.7cm submucous fibroid which indents the endometrium and gives me very heavy periods.I had a chat with gynaecologist and she prescribed me Cerazette tablets to take 2 at the same time every day.I have been warned about possible irregular bleedings, but with any luck it will slow down and I should have eventually be rendered bleed free.

I bled for first week of taking Cerazette (started on 25th on March),then it stopped for 8 days. Then I started to bleed again.I also have non stop period-like pain.In the last 9 days I have been feeling quite nauseous and get painful cramps but I have never been on for this long before.I am also passing blood clots and suffering from headaches more than usual.I lost 4kg of my weight.Recently I had a telephone consultation with my GP and she said I should continue with Cerazette and wait another 4-5 weeks.

I went on Qlaira tablets before and I was fine for 1 year, but then irregular bleedings started so moved to Cerazette.

I am getting really depressed about this painful bleeding so constantly.

Currently cannot make a gynaecologist appointment as all routine procedures have been suspended due to COVID-19 so just seeing if anyone else had the same experience of these pills? Does mini pill really can help with fibroids? Anyone else similar?

I am very fed up 😦

Hi, I'm sorry your having a rough time with fibroids, I am 43 & had 5 fibroids of various sizes which caused very heavy bleeding & clotting which also made me suffer headaches & dizzy spells, Ive been on iron tablets for years because the blood loss was so bad. I cant really help you with the pill question as I was offered it but preferred not to take any hormones whilst having fibroids because I wanted to know exactly what was going on with my body until I could get treatment rather than mask the problems the fibroids were causing, I know that wont be the right option for most people though, I think the mini pill basically stops the heavy bleeding fibroids cause . I had Ufe surgery in December which so far has changed my life for the better. I hope you feel better soon.

    Hi Agata,

I don't know about the mini-pill, but when I started on the regular pill (progestin + estrogen) my period bleeding got much worse - I started bleeding about halfway through my cycles and it kept going (heavy!) for about 2 weeks. My GP moved me to a higher dose, and that helped only a little. Eventually I got to see an ob/gyn and that made all the difference in the world.

Hang in there. Maybe your body will get used to the new drug. If not, the pandemic does seem to be easing in a lot of countries. Keep taking iron - you'll need the fortitude to see this through! I understand being fed-up. Fibroid bleeding is the worst.

i don't think nothing works for stopping the period but getting the fibroids shrinked or a hysterectomy would help i had embolization done in november of 2019 and to this day i have no heavy periods im loving it because before the procedure i would use a 36 ct of sanitary napkins a month now i use panty liners and very light for 5 days

i say stop taking these hormonal interventions/ treatments. the best thing is to wait until the covid crisis is over and have the fibroid removed.

    Thanks so much for replying.

I already had a discussion with gyneacologist about the transcervical resection of fibroid or uterine artery embolisation.Unfortunately all routine procedures are suspended so at the moment I have no chance for any of these options 😦 .

My bleeding is not very heavy, but pelvic and back pain is the worst.Just do not know what to do.I am stressing really bad.

Will phone GP on Monday and see if I can get some advice.

Again, thank you so much for all responses xxx
