As someone has said - this is the polymyalgia group which is different from fibro.

However, do not self-diagnose since the symptoms can also point to other things and need an expert to make that final diagnosis. Normal pain killers do little for either PMR or fibro and seeing a doctor allows other medication only available on prescription to be used which can help the pain to some extent.

Have you been diagnosed with fibromyalgia? Before I was diagnosed with PMR I took Tramadol and it had no effect, although it helped a friend who has fybromyalgia. I was just wondering if it could be something else.

Thanks ptolemy - I wondered that but didn't know of it helps in fibro. Certainly doesn't in PMR.

I am positive there are thousands of fibro patients out there in the wide wide world that have PMR not fibro and that is where the patients who are under 50 are hidden - wrongly labelled as fibromyalgia.

I think you are absolutely right Eileen. I also think there may be a lot of people in their 80s who may have it and are just written off with arthritis
