Fibromyalgia?

Posted , 7 users are following.

For months, I have been experiencing aches and pains all over my body: my legs, back, pelvis, arms, neck, jaw. My muscles twitch in my legs and also my eye. The lymph nodes in my armpit hurt the worst and it hurts to the touch at times. What scares me the most is the headaches and weirdness I feel at times. I feel like I'm losing it because I forget names all the time and this morning, I was at the bank and I was going to put a check in the drive thru but I got so distracted by another car that I forgot all about putting the check in. I also tire easy. I'm only 21, and it makes me think there's something wrong with my brain. Please help! Could this be fibro?

    Hi Courtney

The things you describe are similar to what I get plus many more ?? I got diagnosed in February of this year but it took a few years for me to get the diagnosis. My GP first of all did loads of blood tests to rule many things out first. I also had MRI's done too before I got referred to a rheumatologist who is the one who diagnose it.

Have you had any tests done at all by your GP? X

I've just had just a normal blood test done a month ago and everything was fine. I was even checked for blood clots in my legs. It just freaks me out so bad when my mind gets like that. It usually happens when my jaw muscles tighten up. I'm glad to know that someone else experiences these things.

For you to get a diagnosis of fibro you would need to be referred to a rheumatologist but everything else needs to be ruled out first. It took me a few years to get referred x

If you have medical coverage or a primary care doctor, ask to get tested for fibromyalgia - they may do other testing as well, for things like lupus, etc.  I experience all this as well and was given fibro dx about 3 yrs ago.  Yeah, it is pretty scary with the brain fogginess - called fibro fog.  Happened to me a few yrs back driving down a road I"ve driven down my whole life, then for about a 2-3 minute period, not knowing where I was, and getting totally freaked.  Also, I"d laugh at myself at times pressing a button for an elevator somewhere and wondering why it wasn't coming to my level, only to realize I was pressing the light-up button and not the call (?) button......doing weird crap like that.  I tend to laugh and joke stuff off quite a bit - my inner "Robin Williams"

That sounds very simple. Oh yeah. I already have anxiety so when that stuff happens, it just makes matters so much worse. It seems to happen at the worst times.

That's sounds just like me, people look at me as if I'm drunk or sometime because I get my words all mixed up and can stutter a lot, I take dizzy spells, and today I've got yet another migraine with the twitch in my right eye. Lately if it's not one thing it's another.

Oh yeah. I hate for people to look at me like I'm crazy when my mind goes blank. I've got dizzy several times today. I was watching tv today and it made a sudden movement and it made me dizzy. The symptoms are crazy.

Rheumatologist to check you over I think. Once you get a diagnosis, you can work out a treatment plan.

I know easier said than done but try not to stress about it. I find stressing makes it worse. Try to distract yourself with things you enjoy. I guess i am luckier than most here i am able to work fulltime and some days i wonder if really have fibro at all then other days..... i think yep i do. I was stressing so much the other day about something stupid that got in my head that i am sure it was my thinking that made the systoms worse, so hang in there try to relax keep well rested and go to the specialist and see what they say. Xx
