more than likely i have the pain around the ribs inbetween shoulders and under the arms .is the worst. try looking up the pain point chart for fibro on the net  see how many you have .

then take it from there .

there dosent seem to be any yes or no answers with fibro .

viruses with me seem to hang on longer than they do with healthy people

but for me my fibro symptoms reduce ,others say they get worse .

Have you discussed your pain and worries about fibro with your GP?  I have both fibro and osteo arthritis in some of my jjoints.  It took about 3 years of tests and visits to  the hospital before I was given a diagnosis as it has to be made by ruling things out, as their is no test that shows it up.  The sooner you get to see your GP and discussing your symptoms the better.  I did read that their has been some research done and it was found possible to see an area of the brain mis-function in Fibro patients, during an MRI scan, but this is still in research.  Still it is being researched and hopefully soon, that will pay off.  I hope you can get sorted out soon, as its horrible not knowing.

Thank you for the advice, It is really a difficult illness I don't know if I have it is just the strange symptoms I get, I am 62 and I have had osteoarthritis since I was 42, A kidney consultant who I was referred to thought it could be some kind of spondylitis, I had to go through a series of tests which I found very annoying because I knew it was not my kidneys, will have to just be patient....

    Hello Lyn,

Yes it could be that the random pain you have, that also moves around, could be Fibro. You haven't mentioned the debilitating fatigue, and trouble sleeping. that is a major feature with Fibro. For many sufferers, including me, that is often worse than the pain.

Good advice here, go to your Doc and ask him to refer you to a rheumatologist, he is usually the one to diagnose. Good luck

    Take care, Anne

It would be really good to get a referral to a Rhumotologist- great at diagnosing quickly, I have arthritis too..have had it for years. I even had bone on bone my knee, had day surgery for it two years ago. apparently my cartledge was a mess so they took. It out and.said other knee is bad too...but I try to stay positive and stress-less because of the Fibro mainly, so I just thought that's not going to happen.my knee is ok....soo far sooo good, no effects at all....thought I would get a bad Fibro flare up but I didn't...which is really great...fatigue is sooooo bad fir sufferers..if you haven't git that maybe you don't have Fibro..I really hope you don't...but a Rhumo will tell you quite quickly.....be blessed:-) xxxx
