Hello has anyone have fibromyalgia so bad that they had to apply for disability? I’ve had this for years and had to stop working last year with the osteoarthritis working against it really makes me miserable 😖 I’m on highest dose of lyrica and muscle relaxers doesn’t help much.

Hi Denise! So sorry to hear this about you. I definitely am having a hard time getting through my work days and asked my doctor about disability. .... not sure if it is up to him to put me on it but he told me to try accupuncture, swimming, see a psychiatric, and yoga etc. have you tried any of these?

P.s muscle relaxers only make you feel like a zombie and don't really help with pain. I'm on buspar and cymbalta but still in pain all day especially with repetitive movement.

Yes as a matter of fact I’ve done all of the above over the years with no success. My dr said it’s getting worse because the fibro and osteoarthritis are working against each other and it’s only going to get worse . So I had to apply for disability. I’m

Hi. Yes I had to stop work and apply for ESA & DLA/PIP.

I know where your coming from.

Its a total switch around to living.

Learning to listen to your body, pacing yourself. Effects everything in my life even socialising. Plus depression on top.

Im on lyrica & tramadol plus others.

Ive tried all sorts ie accupuncher, tens mashine, physio ect. Nothing helped.

I did go on a relaxation course and I found that very helpful. X

    Hi!

I had to stop fostering babies due to fibromyalgia and it broke my heart.

I claimed ESA and was put in the support group. The lady I spoke to at the DWP told me to claim DLA which I did. I was awarded high rate for both mobility and care indefinitely.

I haven't been moved to PIP yet though I'm told by my agent (I have an advisor at the DWP because I'm in the support group), that I will most likely be moved to the standard rate for care and remain on high rate mobility when I'm moved to PIP.

I don't know a lot of people that managed to get DLA or pip due to having fibromyalgia alone but I did. I think for me, it was due to having muscle wastage in my legs (can't move much due to horrific leg pain), and because I use fentanyl for pain.

I would say claim and if they turn you down, appeal.

Don't be daunted by the forms. Answer them based on your worst day ever with fibro.
