Fibromyalgia & Abdominal Pain?

Hello,

I'm looking for some other thoughts as I'm (and my doctors) don't know what's wrong with me. I'm 29 years old and have been having abdominal pain for 7 months and other bizarre pain for the past 4 months. It started October 1, 2017 when I had migratory abdominal pain - within a few days I was rushed to the hospital as they thought I might have appendicitis. I had normal blood labs and a normal ultrasound and was sent home.

Throughout the next couple of months I have had countless labs done as well as multiple abdominal and pelvic ultrasounds. I had a CT scan done at the end of November which reported back relatively normal findings with the exception of a little sludge in my gallbladder. In January, I had a EGD done that showed slight stomach inflammation and a benign esophageal polyp that was removed. At the beginning of that month, I started getting severe chest pain that radiated down my arms and into my shoulders. They have assured me that after running a few EKGs that it was not a heart attack.

In February, my symptoms ramped up. My pain had centered itself in my epigastic area and has radiated into my flanks. By the end of the month the pain was radiating into my back and then up into my shoulder blades. Days later, the pain has moved into my lower back and into the backs of my thighs. I have picked up in nausea. I should mention that since the beginning of all of this my bowels have run the gamut.

My blood work has always been relatively normal. I did have slightly elevated liver enzymes for a period of time, but they fluctuated back down and then up again.

In March they discovered that my gallbladder had absolutely no function via a HIDA scan and they removed it at the end of the month. All my doctors told me, though, that they didn't think this would be the fix to all of my problems. Although it did relieve some of the pain, there's a lot that still lingers. I had an endoscopic ultrasound done, too, and they said my pancreas, ducts, stomach, etc all look totally fine.

I've been to rheumatology where they did a ton of blood tests. Everything was normal (negative), with the exception of being tested for IgG which was positive. However, they said that it wouldn't be related to this pain. My inflammatory markers were all negative. They also did an echocardiogram to rule out anything strange on my heart.

Having written this long winded explanation this is where I'm currently at : My legs (thighs, calves, knees, ankles) ache morning and night - NSAIDs haven't helped relieve this pain, my wrists, elbows, and upper arms are similar, but they aren't as frequent in pain. My chest is ALWAYS painful, especially below my breasts on my rib cage. They are always tender to touch and ache to move. My back, neck, jaw and shoulders ache periodically - strangely my collarbone does too. Sometimes it is a burning sensation - other times it's dull, achy and other times it's stabby - it's never ever consistent. My abdomen is still in pain - the rib cage area especially but I do have migratory pain every now and again and more frequent pain in my flanks depending on how I move. I've also been dealing with a lot of nausea.

My question is do I sound like someone with fibromyalgia? It was tossed around by my doctors a few times, but they haven't actively pursued it. Most of my pain started in the abdomen - did anyone also experience this? As the months have gone on, other parts of my body have succumbed to the pain. I feel like I am going crazy and no one has any answers for me at this point. My anxiety has definitely picked up a lot too as everything on my tests keeps coming back normal. Thank you for listening to this very long rant!!

I think it sounds like you have FM. I've been diagnosed with it and I've not had any tests for it. But all of my symptoms for the past year (when I've gone in to the doctor) all are on the list for FM. I would take the test offered.

The doctors are still only practicing in my opinion. They don't have all the answers. I had to go to 5 different doctors because my knee replacement kept twisting after a fall I took. (broke my femur because of the fall). 5th doctor later and one year later (ugh!!!) the doctor finally tells me my knee is loose. FINALLY! So they had to do another knee replacement. My knee had been twisting for a year. I told them it was my collateral ligament, but they couldn't tell cause of so much metal in my leg already with a knee replacement from 10 years ago... and now a rod in my femur. Turns out I was right. Dog gone doctors really p**s me off sometimes. Now I'm pretty much crippled cause of their errors.
