Posted , 2 users are following.

I was originally diagnosed with PMR (polymyalgia rheumatica) but new rheumy says it was not PMR. I know that fibro has bilateral trigger points but does i cause pain thats BILATERAL exactly the same on both sides. From the beggining I have consistantly had pain in myhands wrists fingers arms shoulders hips buttocks lower back thighsand feet. Its mucle pain not joint but its exactly the same on both sides always.

Thanks for taking the time

Morning Jo;  I can't say that I have my pain on "both sides at same time"; but that doesn't mean that your pain doesn't come under the umbrella of Fibro.  I had thought that Polymyalgia would show up with bloods, though, as I "thought" it was similar to Rhuematoid (but don't take that as verbatim).

?What pain relief works for you, as this may give some indication of what your pain issues relate to?  I say this, as I feel that different pain meds work on different conditions?   Did your new Rhuemy give you his/her reasons for changing your diagnosis?

?I agree that this becomes more of an issue for you, when you had thought you had a diagnosis, and then it changes, and that means more testing and changing of meds, as well as having to "accept, again, in yourself, another diagnosis"; which we all have to work throuh to begin to understand, and re-educate ourselves.

?I hope others can give you a more definate answer, and will follow the answers.   Bron

I did originally have a raised CRP at 59 and my Gp diagnosed PMR and presribed 20 mg of pred. I guess they think its not PMR as it didnt get rid of all the pain and I have it in my hands and feet which is not as common for PMR. The new rheumy advised that its some kind of arthritis. On April 1st when I see her I will ask her if she can narrow that down a bit as there are so many different kinds. I really dont know if she was including fibro in that category or not. My GP has been prescribing Tramadol 50 mg twice a day. The rheumy gave me a prescription for Naproxin but the pharmacy wouldnt fill it as it has a drug interaction with high blood pressure meds. So yes Im just waiting in limbo which is not only frustrating its emotionally not healthy. I have tried all the fibro drugs and they did nothing. Amitripiline Gabapentin Lyrica and Cymbalta. I however do go to the pool everyday and do mobility/stretching exercises in the pool. Its hard to go alot of days but if I dont go the pain gets worse.

      Thanks Joanne

I have pain in all those areas and I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I did have a x-ray in June that show arthritis in both hands. Search tender points for fibro to see the areas used for fibromyalgia. I have neck, shoulder, back, hips, knees and ankles. The pain is intense. Sometimes they equally hurt the same or intensity of pain my different in areas depend on my activity. I more pain in my neck, back and hips when sitting. My back, hips, knees, ankle hurt more when walking or standing. My hand, wrist and fingers get stiff and painful which me to cry. This issue is separate from fibro. Trying to find out the cause now. I hope this is helpful.
