Fibromyalgia and heavy periods

Hi,
I am recently diagnosed with fibro, and over the past few months my periods have gotten heavier. This time I am getting a lot of big blood clots (day 3) and am quite alarmed. I am on holidays and don't know if I should go to the doctor (they may not do anything but tell me to wait it out). Does anyone else have experience of this? Is it a fibro thing?

how old are you? I am 46 and have suffered dreadful periods for a few years now, almost admitted once as they were coming thick and fasy, one being the size of my hand, but never really thought of it being related to fibromyalgia. They have subsided somewhat since that awful episode when I was losing a mugfull every 15 minutes, but years of suffering. I was going to have a hysterectomy but gynae persuaded me against it saying it would make my condition worse for sometime afterwards, and as I am already relatively housebound most if the time I couldnt cope with more pain. I would see a gynae when you come back and just try to enjoy your holiday for now and not worry.

i was stuck between a rock and a hard place , with out my iron injections i would have needed regular blood transfusions ,so i had my op in 97 and have had pain above the scar ever since , i also started with unexplained itchy rashes that covered most of my body
and had my first bouts of ibs .
i wish i had known about alternative medincicines
i would have tried it for my peroid problems before going for the op
so think very carefully . sorry to hear your mostly housebound
i am at the moment due to this awful humidity.

I used to have irregular and heavy periods before I want on the pill but it was due to polycystic ovary syndrome (I don't know if it's connected with fibromyalgia, it seems fibro quite often coincides with other autoimmunological diseases). The pill has regulated the periods and now it's much better, so maybe you should rule PCO (or other hormonal problems) out with your gynaecologist first.
