Fibromyalgia Flare Up After Osteopath Visit

Hi

I have Fibromyalgia and my last bad flare up was a few years ago after moving a lot of furniture. Recently I went to an Osteopath for back pain I have had for a few months. The Osteopath did some deep tissue massage. A day or two after my visit I have a bad flare up, all my muscles hurt, some feel like they are burning. It did die down for one day now its back again. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced anything similar.

Yes, deep tissue massages really hurt me, make me flare up and don't help. A nice soft massage is very comforting and relaxing. Best wishes, Linda

Agree with Linda. Last massage I had was too forceful, even though I asked therapist to lighten touch. Therapists need to know more about fibro and the need to adjust pressure for each individual.

I agree with the other replies. I was offered a massage and even though it was classed as "gentle", I still had a lot of pain afterwards. Take care and I hope you feel better now.
