Fibromyalgia, questions?

Hello,

I'm a 22 year old women, generally I am a healthy person however I suffer with almost all of the fibromyalgia symptoms apart from sleep problems although I can sleep a lot! my body has been like this since I was about 15 however I ache all the time but it doesn't stay in the same place for long(1-2weeks) which is something I've read fibro pain must stay in the same place for 3 months or more. I've recently just got over a burning pain between my shoulder blades.

The fact that the pain doesn't stay long makes me doubt that I've got fibromyalgia, sorry if I've not made much sense I'm not very good at typing.

Thank you.

The pain can move about indeed. One day hips next day knees or shoulders.

Magnesium supplements have reduced my pain and stiffness. Double RDA of the Boots Magnesium and Calcium with vitamin D

    Hello Jamie,

Agree with bluesman. Pain does move around, randomly and for no reason! I do always have pain in shoulder, back and hands, which just stays there all the time. A lot of people find that it is the fatigue that defines us as Fibro sufferers.

Have you had a diagnosi yet, or are you just thinking it's Fibro? Wish you luck anyway.

    Take care, Anne

Hi Jamie , sorry to hear you are suffering with pain and various other symptoms at such a young age. The best thing you can do is to try and get yourself diagnosed so you can then learn to live with what ever condition you may have. Go and see your GP and tell her the symptoms you have. She will probably begin by running some standard blood tests on you. If she feels it could be a joint or muscular issue she should refer you to a rheumatologist who will look deeper into your history and possible do x-rays, scans etc. it may take a while before a diagnosis is reached but it should help to get the ball rolling now. It can be stressful knowing you dong feel well but are not sure why. Good luck, Paula

We do have tender points...and all our symptoms bar one or two are different like our medication is,,,,maybe see a Rhumotologist great a diagnosis, at least then you will know, then get on with managing your pain..really feel for you..it's a hard one to diagnose, most of us suffered it for years without a name to it...it was almost a celebration believe it or not when I was finally diagnosed, over 20yrs ago..and usually we seem to have more than one other issue that seems to go with it,,grr.  be and stay strong and positive if you can..stress seems to make it flare up...:-) Australia
