    Hello Diane,

I have been suffering with fibromyalgia for approximately 13 years. I have been in touch with DLA and i have been awarded the care component but i am appealing for full DLA as the doctor that they sent to examine misrepresented me on the mobility side. He said i could walk 150 metres but i wish i could walk at least 10 metres without feeling that i have done a marathon. Like every body alse says make the most of the good days as they are few and far between. Will let you know how i get on.

    Hi there Diane and destinyk

I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia and it has taken a year for this, luckily I changed my gp to start with (he got the ball rolling) and I found I have degenerative discs after having a back x-ray etc, and due to this I had to see a pain specialist which traveling some distance only to find that this so called specialist was patronizing and abrupt and so I decided I did not want to see this registrar again!!!! I asked to see someone else and this was a consultant which understood my pain and he said he it wasn't in my head, (like the registrar had previously more or less said) anyway thankfully this Dr T gave me the diagnosis.

I have been awarded low rate care too, the thing is originally when I applied such things like weather changes I didn't think that was linked to the symptom, so this time I wrote this down..... I have to use a cane too helping me to walk due to my hip pain and in my knees, I have read though that if you have other conditions aswell as fibromyalgia this gives you more of a chance to be looked at, as its actually only recently it is being recognized? on the other hand I have also read that its not what you are diagnosed its how your condition actually effects your day to day life!!!! So who actually knows??? Fibromyalgia is not a nice condition and when I applied for DLA they said I could walk 50 meters I put 10 in the application, anyway I have appealed to, doubt I will get anywhere either, even though I am suffering and there is people out there that are just defrauding the system!!!!!! Which basically isn't fair on genuine cases, anyway my fight continues......!!!!

    Hope you both are ok?

    take care x
