I had fibroscan to measure the liver as I have autoimmune hepititis it came back clear this was around month ago but I've been having constant pressure round n under left rib to cut long story short vid been exaimed by my local dr who says could be gastritis. Both my arms are in pain heavy n burning shoulders too as well as rib pain I had blood tests last week to check for imflamation results are due back tomorrow n this morning I got another letter for repeat fibroscan in 4 weeks so it's second fibroscan in two months. What I want yo know is would they be able to tell me example if I had hiatus hernia or gall bladder problems or pancreas probs by a fibroscan please help someone thankyou

A fibroscan scans your liver.  To check for a hiatus hernia, ask for an endoscopy, your gallbladder can be scanned via an ultrasound or a HIDA sca, your pancreas can be examined with a CT, abdominal X Rays or an ERCP test.

This is what I originally thought it was just come for the liver they did find a haemogima in the liver but my liver specialist didn't seem bothered about that n the lady that scanned me also scanned the left side where I have pain pancreas area left rib middle of stomach nothing was found there but now I've got to have another repeat fibroscan 8 weeks after last fibro. I'm wondering now as to y if nothing was found apart from the haemogima

I suspect you are having a repeat scan to monitor the haemogima.  If anything else was found, you would have been told about it.  It is good news that nothing was found in your pancreas area.

Yes but the lady that did the scan while scanning said to the other lady there PANCREAS but nothing else but it came back clear I'm in awful pain though with burning arms shoulders and the pressure pain round rib makes it so hard to sleep even travelling in car going round roundabouts jars the rib I'm hoping something shows up in blood tests as surely something would I'm expecting imflamation to show high levels due to my pain

When she said ''pancreas', i she was probably telling the other lady what organ she had scanned so this could be recorded on your notes. If it came back clear, then there is nothing sinister to read into this.   Since you are still worried, contact the hospital where you had the scan and ask to speak to the radiologist who did the procedure and ask why she said 'pancreas'. Ask for a copy of.the results of your scan and take it to your doctor and ask him or her to go through it with you.  This will resolve your anxiety about this.

The harmogima on your liver could be the source of your pain and it is radiating to your left side.  You may have other things going on at once. Pain under your rib could be gastritis as your doctor suggested; an endoscopy would detect gastritis.  Your autoimmune hepatitis could also be playing a part in this.

I forgot to add that rib pain can also be costochondrtis which can be diagnosed by a physical examination or an X Ray.  My costochondritis was diagnosed by physical examination only and it went away after three months.  However, some people have chronic costochondritis which doesn't go away.  Ask your doctor about this as well to narrow down the possibilities.

Do you know what I read bout chronditis how ever you spell it, I'm thinking I went to see my liver specialist mid aug and he said he was pleased with my liver levels to do with my AIH I've just thought n he decided to lower one of my immunosuppressants by 25 mg, I wonder if lowering my imuran has brought this on

Just rang up this second to get my imflamation results in blood test taken fri they have come back clear this is so frustrating as I'm in agony they are sending the results over to my liver specialist they tell me today

You may have a point there.  I would ask your doctor about this possibility Maybe you need to have your immunosuppressants increased again.

Although these results are frustrating, this is still good news because yet another possible cause has been ruled out. Your immunosuppressants may  be the missing part to this puzzle.

Yes I wonder. I must admit when I was on higher dose I never had any pain under n around ribs n certainly no burning pains in both arms and both shoulders. Well I have my second  fibroscan in middle of nov so I will know more after that, and because obviously my treatment is all logged the liver specialist will see my imuran was lowered until I see him in feb thankyou pippa How are you doing what are your symptoms now ?

Tell your specialist when you see him that you didn't have any of these pains when you were on a higher dose of your medication.   It would also be worthwhile asking your general doctor to put you back on the original higher dose to see if this gets rid of your pain before your next appointments.

At the moment, my IBS is in remission and I don't have any symptoms.  I am going on holiday next week so that should also keep my bowel happy.
