Fibula nail & syndesmosis stabilisation. 5 weeks post surgery, immediate weight bearing.

fell nearly seven weeks ago, at first they thought it was simple fracture in fibula, but turns out after more xray and MRI, complex break, displaced, and ankle joint in pieces

immediate treatment in small hospital in devon not great. but my surgeon pretty amazing as as i opted for fibula nail and screws for syndesmosis joint i was weight bearing immediately. used a boot for a few days but preferred not to so stopped and just used crutches. nerve block was wonderful as full pain relief for nearly 4 days and had cocktail of codeine and paracetemol for another week or so

i expected to be back working after a couple of days and should have taken 4-6 weeks. Pain especially at night worse than expected and not sleeping well, so quite draining. that said rarely taking pain meds now, ice is my best friend!!!invested in aircast which i love and helps me sleep. also keeping leg above my nose for 3 straight weeks after surgery helped the extreme swelling, although ankle is still a little swollen of course.

last couple of days walking way better, with one crutch, hurts still at night and stiff/ sore at beginnng and end of day.

trying to walk more now and stationary cycle.

have had problems with knee locking,

physio starts next week, driving in a week as well.
