Hi,
While feeling like a Pet in a Cage, I have not been able to do much and whatever I do makes breathing troublesome, so I have been doing Research on the Net. I have several interests, from way back when I had time to think, so now I have that time again I've been making a dent in learning new things, which I love. Keeping my brain working is supposed to be good for me, and marathons are cancelled (thankfully for me, as no way could I do one). Reading through lots of information has the added benefit of helping me to relax and sleep at night. I also try to think of this time as 'being given to us for our reflection on our lives'. An opportunity, not a punishment.
Keeping Positive, Please stay safe and keep well.

What are your subjects of interest? Many of us like history and wildlife and so much more.
Please share if you feel comfortable.
I love cooking in the style of rural Southern America. Cornbread, pork seasoned vegetables, Bar-B-Q, etc.

Hi Larry 49o33
My choice of subjects aren't the type most people choose, at the time of world-wide deaths being caused by a virus.
But, since you asked I will spill the beans. I did begin with some History, which I have interest in already, but this time I wanted to read up about the Plagues which have some relevance to the current situation throughout the world.I read about one, and did some investigating into the origins and how it spread, then onto how it was eradicated, only to find the problem could easily begin again, in particular circumstances. Fortunately, those circumstances would be highly unlikely in the intelligent race, we've grown to be in 2020. Enough said, I fear!!
Choosing an alternative subject was harder, with my mind preoccupied on all things Coronavirus 2019. I do have many interests and choosing just one to delve more into was confusing, in view of my previous searches taking me down a lane into Possibility.I did not wish to find myself learning more bad news, and am now learning some more in-depth psychology than my previous qualification gave me. Whatever I learn now will only be of interest to me, and won't be shared with any employer, so I can do this at my own pace. That is, a Snail's Pace, but its enjoyable to me and that's what counts.
Thanks for asking about it Larry. I can only imagine, you now wish, you hadn't asked!! All the Best.

Thank you for sharing and I for one would be very interested to read more about your research , your favorite foods, your favorite music, etc.
In my opinion no subject is excluded and all are most interesting. Some like their cars and others like their pets, while others like other things. There is no set area of discussion. Of course most of us do have COPD or some other respiratory difficulty. I suppose that our medical issues override all else, but we don't need to restrict ourselves to negative issues.

Something to make you laugh or cringe (if you are English lol)
From Thomas Cook Holidays - listing some guests' genuine complaints during the
season
in the brochure that the local store does not sell proper biscuits
like custard creams or ginger nuts."
'siesta' time - this should be banned."
curry. I don't like spicy food at all."
. 5. "The beach was too sandy."
. 6. "We found the sand was not like the sand in the brochure. Your brochure shows the sand as yellow but it was white."
8 8. "No-one told us there would be fish in the sea. The children were startled."
. 11. "The roads were uneven.."
. 14. "The brochure stated: 'No hairdressers at the accommodation'. We're trainee hairdressers - will we be OK staying there?"
. 17. "It is your duty as a tour operator to
advise us of noisy or unruly guests before we travel.
"18. "I was bitten by a mosquito, no-one said they could bite."
They walk amongst us and they

Leonard,
Question: Can you buy more and cut down on those trips to your store? I t might reduce your risk of getting COVID-19. Wear a face mask and gloves if you have them and wash your hands before and as soon as you return home. Please be very careful.
Are you ok Leonard? Do you need anything? Have you family/friends that you keep in regular tough with?
Beyond trips to your store, what else are you doing? I wish you well and look forward to reading more of your post.

Hi Larry
I have tried all sorts over the years, traps, shooting themselves, old wives tales, they seemed to work the best for a while but still get over 150 hills every year, some years worse than others and with 2,000m2 it is highly likely that I don't manage to protect it all or they come back via the stream. In my old house my cat was very efficient, he learnt you had to get ahead of the mole to catch it. He sadly died aged -3 days off his 20th birthday, rescued at a month old, even the vet thought he was a pedigree Chartreuse, he was not fat but weighed in at a hefty 8kgs.
No hate wine even in cooking, been a teetotaler all my life and I live in Burgundy one of the most famous wine regions lol
I only have two rescue dogs now, three years ago had 8, horrible time as I lost three of them in 2017 in less than three months and in 2018 three again, all bar one old age or illness, the last one was tragic accident, broke my heart as he and I had worked so hard for 18 months to get him over the traumas he suffered. The two I have left are two of the youngest of that group of 8, had them for 11 and 10 years respectively, they are my reason to continue to battle against my advancing diseases. Houdi (short for Houdini) is a bi-coloured poodle, beaten to within an inch of her life at 7 months old, I personally took her from the owner under the threat of calling the authorities to her. Poor dog is still terrified of women that she doesn't know. The other is a tiny little Yorkie with three legs, found in a refuge again aged 7 months, according to my vet she had had both her back legs broken at birth and been left without treatment, one leg healed behind the other interfering her walking so I had it amputated, she runs like the wind now weighs in at a mighty 1kg 900gms but she thinks she is a great Dane. lol She is called Fidget and lives up to her name, never still.

Had a phone call from my son in the UK, cases rising fast in his area so it seems, my two grandsons are in the police and so is their mother, the eldest grandson had to go to a sudden death 5 days ago, then he had to take statements from her twin sister, both in their 60s, yesterday it was announced that the twin sister had died also both from Covid 19 and the brother was in hospital on a ventilator and not expected to live, poor boy still has to go to work, as you can imagine we are now all on tenterhooks hoping he doesn't catch it. Sons best friend also hospitalized. My daughter and granddaughter both live in the same town. Police are getting spat on by yobs if they are being arrested stating they have the virus, horrible I fear for my family left over there and in a really contaminated area.
Here cases are also on the rise, I live at the point of three different counties mine being hardly touched by the virus but the two counties either side cases rising slowly. Not too worried as right out in the country in a tiny hamlet. Neighbours well spaced out.
Can only hope that we all come out of this unscathed. Feel so badly for families that are losing loved ones and bless the brave health workers that are suffering because of lack of safety equipment and even being forced out of their homes by scared landlords fearing that nurses will bring the virus back to the flat, happened here in France, also their cars are getting broken into to steal what little equipment they have, what is the world coming too. So so sad
