Finally beat Threadworm, here's how I did it.

Firstly I want to say that I am not a medical doctor and so medical advice should be taken before taking any medication listed below.
I started having the itchy bottom symptoms around September 2011 and booked in an appointment with my doctor. The doctor said it was nothing serious and told me to take Anusol cream for the itch. There is no doubt that the Anusol cream did relieve the itching symptoms for a few hours but I was constantly waking up throughout the night with a horrible urge to itch. It got so bad that I was getting constant baths every few hours just to provide some sort of relief. I was very tired and irritable the next day in work and started feeling depressed and even started losing weight as my appetite had gone.
At the time I was single (30 year old man) with no kids and so thought threadworm would be unlikely the cause and perhaps it was piles. The itching just seemed to get worse and worse even during the day so I started researching the internet for hours and hours and decided it must be threadworms. I also confirmed the presence of threadworm by excreting into a large piece of tinfoil around the toilet seat and the small white thread like worms were visible although not in great numbers.
I took the Ovex (mebendazole) tablet and after 2 or 3 days the itching decreased and finally stopped. I was so thankful that this ordeal was over, then to my horror the symptoms started to appear again after about a week. I immediately took another Ovex and followed a very strict hygiene routine of changing my sheets every day and washing the bath / shower etc with bleach. All carpets were vacuumed and door handles wiped down.
Again I was given several days where the itching stopped but it wasn’t long before the dreading wriggling sensation returned as soon as I got into bed at nights and I was back to square one. I remember feeling so down, I had to cancel a date and just sat in the house depressed and looking up websites about threadworm for hours and hours. It finally got to the point where I was so depressed that I wondered if life was worth living any more. I read many posts online about people who have had this condition for 20+ years which didn’t help my situation.
I remember one night while sitting in the bath at about 2am having being woken up by the itch, I said to myself I am going to beat this problem once and for all. I decided to research herbal remedies and read pages of useful information on how to beat the worms once and for all. I must say that a lot of the useful tips came from this website which is why I have decided to post my experience here in the hope it helps others out.
Materials Needed
The first thing to do is order the following 3 products from Organic nutrition:
50ml Black Walnut Hull Extract (extra strength tincture)
120 Clove Capsules
120 Wormwood Capsules
Full instructions
Total cost = £36.75
1 x Dust Mask which can be bought in a DIY store
1 x Nail Brush
1 x packet of Ovex
1 x Packet of pumpkin seeds from a health store
1 x packet of odourless garlic capsules
4 x packets of chopped up pineapple chunks
Once all the materials and capsules have arrived, you need to do the follow:
Take 1 ovex tablet with water and while wearing the dusk mask you need to vacuum every inch of carpet especially in your bedroom. (The eggs can easily spread during this method so to prevent you from getting re-infected it is advised to wear a dust mask which covers your mouth and nose). After vacuuming, you need to change your bed sheets and wipe down all door handles, tap handles etc. Place the bed sheets and any towels in the wash at 90 degrees and iron once dry. This is the only way to be sure the eggs are killed.
The process must be repeated everyday for at least 10 days, I know it is a pain but believe me the end result is worth the hassle.
You should also start taking your Black Walnut, clove and wormwood capsules as per the instructions that come with them. Also try and eat a few handfuls of the pumpkin seeds throughout the day and take a portion of pineapple chunks daily. These are all well know anti-parasitic remedies that actually work. Follow this routine for 2 weeks.
Finally and very importantly, the eggs that may still be in your house can survive up to 2 weeks in normal conditions. If these are re-inhaled again then you are back to square one. I read in many forums that if the house is warmed up to 50 degrees then the eggs can only survive for 2 hours.
Every morning when I went to work, I left the heat on full blast for 9 hours at the highest temperature and opened the curtains in every room as the eggs are also sensitive to sunlight. Vacuumed every night with my dust mask on and tried not to eat fast foods but stuck to things like brown rice and vegetables.
I am happy to say that so far 2 months have past and the wriggling feeling has not returned and my life has got back to normal and I am now in a relationship again. I never found out how I originally got infected with threadworm but hopefully I have got rid of these horrible parasites once and for all.
I hope this helps some of you to rid these parasites and should you have any questions then please feel free to ask.

On a serious note, never feel ashamed towards and doctor, its there job, they deal with much much worst things than a little worm.
Also ovex doesnt work, they will just ease up the wiggling but the eggs hatch and bam ur back to square one.
Who do u live with?

So I guess first things first, clean you place through out, like ocd style, and do this every day if you can. Wash yourself every day aswell and always where tight clothes. I personally think you can get rid of these via the hygiene root as you live alone.
I did the hygiene root and I have kids and a partner so we all had to do it which was very hard work. I dont have no more wiggling but time will tell if ive succeeded or not, so far so good.
You can do both what others above say to do and the hygiene then your 100% sure you will get rid of these. If they come back then you need to tell your boyfriend hes the carrier.

I am getting conflicting info regarding washing of bed linens, etc. is 40 degrees sufficient? NHS site says yes provided good rinse, but other places say "hot wash". Not sure children garments will withstand very hot washes though.
Thanks.

It would seem to me, at least for 14 or more days, that one should watch their laundry at the highest temperature they can, to not only kill the adult parasite, but their eggs as well. Many people forget the eggs, which are probably all over their home, and can easily be airborne. So, it is vital to kill the eggs at the highest temperature available, to ensure even the eggs are done in also.

I am pretty sure that I read somewhere that you can get away with a 40 degree wash because the movement of the drum bashes the eggs etc and kills/damages them. Then with the rinse cycles - that ensures everything is got rid of. I wouldn't overload the drum though. I did my daughters bedding in half loads to ensure enough water/detergent got right through all the fabric. Mind you, I guess once you iron it all, the heat from the iron would kill anything still on the fabric. So its probably a good idea to iron all the bedding and clothing just to make sure.

I also bought some black walnut/wormwood tincture for the whole family this morning. I will use this in a few days, giving time for the ovex to finish its work.
I have informed the school. They are going to remind pupils about the merits of hand washing. Finger crossed that they listen as it is probable it came from there in the first place.

My child (age 9) one night noticed a small white wiggly thread and called me to take a look. I was horrified but didn't panic. I had never before come across this and have since read everything I could quite literally get my hands on. We immediately treated the whole family with Ovex and this was repeated after 11 days (even though it says only take after 14 days if threadworms are still around). We put into place a method which was followed strictly by all the family, it may seem extreme but it was definitely worth it:- Hand sanitisers were placed everywhere from lunchboxes to the dinner table, every door handle, chair back, tap, toilet shower head, draw handle, handrail, in fact everywhere you touch was dettox-ed every day. Each time my child went to the toilet, it was dettox-ed. And then they showered. Every day, ALL the beds were washed (at 70 degrees - I know it's exhausting!!), the kids wore underwear and PJ's and onesie-s to bed to try and limit any itching or egg spreading. As apparantly itching happens mainly when you are asleep and this spreads the contamination. When changing the beds, washing the towels, cleaning, a mask and gloves were worn at all times. Hoovering everyday. I even bought a steamer (which was half price thank god) and steamed mattresses and floors, toilets too. Also, all soft furnishings were removed from my childs bedroom as I had read that the eggs tend to stick to these and then are breathed in at a later time. We all used to use Vaseline to try and make it as difficult as possible for any egg-laying to take place. One night in particular I remember my child complaining about the itching, so I ran a warm bath, she called me and when I looked in the bath (as small as these horrible things are) I could see their shadows wriggling!! I had read about citrus, in particular pineapple which threadworms hate, so I bought: Pineapple Juice and the fruit, pumpkin seeds (which were eaten in handfulls) and garlic capsules. In fact, as much fibre as you can get through this helps clear the colon and push worms out. All sugar/sugary things were band from the house - threadworms thrive on sugar so we needed to starve them too. This regime was followed for 6 weeks. I also informed the school, but no letters were sent out and no extra precautions were taken by them !! This was all 4 months ago and fingers crossed. I sincerely hope I never see them ever again. I hope this helps anyone out there, these forums certainly helped me so I hope I can do some good in return....

Thanks for your input and digression into how you rid yourself of the parasites.
I have actually learned today, that some of your stated remedies have been known to have been around for thousands of years, especially in the South American countries.
What irks me the most, is that the Center for Disease Control, has stated through outside investigations that there is not a parasitic problem within the United States, which is what the doctors seem to be telling their patients that come to them. They continue to say "It's all in your head", which means of course parasitosis.
Doctors seem not to be up to date and dismiss their clients as mental cases. Go figure. I actually visited a doctor, saw symptoms he had on his face, caused by parasites, and he stated the above, it is in my head. Now, I see symptoms on his family members. I smiled, knowing what his family was in for.

I used to work in Pharmacy for many years. However I am not a pharmacist. In the many years I worked I was advised by a company representative that adults mostly don't have symptoms of worms due to their stomach acids mostly keeping the symtoms hidden, he told me that all people have worms, just that children do not have sufficient stomach achid to control them.
So I am thinking maybe adults who find they have a problem with worms may have changed their standard diet, so their stomach is not producing those acides that keep the worms under control. Or even some medication that they are using is causing the worms to not be controlled by stomach acid of normal levels.
Some here comment on how important it is that when you dose you that same day clean and change all linen. The worms leave the anal area at night to lay their eggs, there was an old remedy of painting the anal area with purple paint as that stops them laying hence stops the cycle. It is also known as Gention Violet, if it is still available it's worth a try. If you try it, make sure you don't get it on your hands or bedding, it stains.
