Finally been referred by my GP for WLS!

Hi all,

My GP has just referred me to NHS programme 'Why Weight' for the 'Fresh Start' tier which is level 3. I'm absolutely bricking it waiting for my email/phone call to find out whether it has been accepted and I get to meet them to talk about a sleeve.

I'm only 26 (female) but I have a BMI of 38 after struggling with my weight for years, did too majy crash diets. I snever struggle to lose weight, I just struggle keeping it off and always gain back more due to portion sizes. I now get knee pain when I run on my treadmill, back pain and pretty sure sleep apnoea too considering my epic snoring and horrible snorting noises when I sleep and wake myself up.

I want to get back into running and swimming and the gym, do weight training to get fit and strong and not have to worry about passing on bad eating habits if I have kids- I have a partner and we're getting close to settling down so it's time to sort my life out.

I know this is only the start and it's going to be hard but I've been researching for months and even the worst things I've heard about the sleeve don't seem bad compared to the risk of me staying like this forever or getting worse.

Doe anyone have any advice for me or tips?

Hi. How long did you wait to hear from the WLS team once you were referred from your gp?

    Thanks Marie
