Hi everyone,

I finally got my Mri results!

I have been told that I have at L5/S1 moderate generalised posterior disc bulge which comes into contact with both S1 roots without compression, right root irritation, both L5 roots exit freely.

at L4/5 mild generalised posterior bulge with a central annular tear doesnt cause root involvment. all other lumber discs normal.

I with they would explain in plain english! Anybody had the same diagnosis and what did they do? help appreciated thanks.

The Physiotherapist said that he would refer me to the hospital, I have had sciatica in right leg and back pain for 3 years, It took them nearly two months to get back to me with the Mri results. I asked to be referred because I said I dont really want to have this for the rest of my life only 43!

Hi to Kelly who I spoke to before how are you?

    Hello MB,

Sorry that is sooo bad having to wait that long for an MRI- I got mine in 24hours....I had a herniated disc at L5/S1 - it had basically gone splat everywhere - sounds like yours are bulging & poss herniated? I think you need them to explain it properly - if it is herniated the actually matter inside the disc will be spilled in the canal and that causes v bad scatica. I had the disc removed last July as it was never going to get better otherwise.Have they suggested you have surgery?
