Finally took sertraline

Hi all, i finally decided to take the plunge and start my medication as i cant put it off forever. I decided to take it before bed as i have read all of the nasty symptoms you can have so i thought i could cheat it and just sleep them away but i woke up in the morning very dizzy and felt shaky i do feel sick but i knew that was to be expected.

Is it normal to feel quite shaky? i just feel quite scatty and my concentration is a bit off and i cant stop yawning!! feeling really tired.

Any insight on this would help! thanks

Well done on starting medication.  The nausea and dizziness is more than likely side effects, just persevere and they will get better.

You just took it once so right now their is not much you can do but take it a few days before you jump to conclutions.  In my case it gave me insomnia so for me the best time was in te morning. ;-)  Now, I did not get any of those side effects you got and I took it for 2 weeks. I did get insonmia, headache and LOTS of sweats.

Hi Jess  yes what you are feeling is 'normal' on these meds  there are a range of side effects  but they are only temporary  so try not to feel anxious about them as they will pass   it will usually take between 6-8 weeks for meds to kick in  but we are all different and you may not get anything else  I had diarrhea  but no other symptoms so good luck and i hope you have a relatively easy time

I experienced quite the same. I felt  sich (like flu) fewer, headaches, anxiety, very thirsty, nauseous, dizzy, very very tired and found it diffucult to fall a sleep at night. But - 10 days in - it was all gone. And now - 6 weeks later I feel so much better - like "the old me"...So stick with it. I was told the first week was the worst - and it was true. An remember - not everybody will experience bad side effects.
