"Chronic infectious mononucleosis is rare and occurs in those with immunologic abnormalities. Such patients present with

1) fever

2 ) lymphadenopathy

3) persistently elevated serum transaminases

4) pancytopenia.

Eye or neurologic abnormalities may also be present".

So basically everyone should get full blood count and liver function tests to find out if they're in risk. Fyi.

    Hi Gee,

Hope that you are feeling not too bad today.

Just a reminder to everyone that these symptoms are also normal just in the normal course of glandular fever, and the fact that these symptoms go on for a many months in lots of people doesn't mean to say they have chronic EBV - in the vast majority of cases it's not. For example, my liver tests were a bit off when going through glandular fever but it didn't mean that it wouldn't go away.

      Hi Craig

Is it normal to have a slightly high white blood count with glandular fever? Xx

      Hi Rosanna,

I'm no medical expert so don't take my view as read by any means.....I don't know much about blood tests, etc......from my limited knowledge it would seem to make sense to me that white blood count or lympocytes would be raised during glandular fever as that's a sign that your body is fighting infection - that makes sense in my mind. But again better to speak to a medical person about it!!

Hoping that today can be a good day for you.
