good morning my friends, this is just an onward report of my pred drop.  and  3rd time lucky i hope.    i am now down to 2mg  and  1.5,      on the dsns   program,   with  no signs of the  pmr pain.     i only have  night pain in 1 shoulder.    for which i take 1.5  paracetamol   at 9 pm  and it  does the trick more often than not.    i do still have the occasional  bowen treatment  the last  was 2 month back,  so hopefully after 6 years my  friend is on the move  and taking leave of my  body. i hope  every one is ok  and looking forward the  better weather.   so we can get some much wanted sun on  our acheing. joints xxx

hi fizzyjam   bowen  treatment,  is a kind of  phisio   where gentle touch is  used.  not exercise   or movement, just lay there and  relax while having it done.    no need to undress,  but it certainly works, my therapist says if it dont work  after 3 treatments  then it isnt for you.      i think you will find lots of our friends on the forum  have  gone down that road, and will be able to explain it better than me  certainly worth a try.  hope you are enjoying the forum. i have had loads of help  from  the people on here,   when i think things cannot get worse,   i just go on here for help     its brill  xx

Sounding good!!!! But remember - even 1 or 2 mg is enought o keep PMR well at bay! So just keep on the way you have been...

Fizzyjam - Bowen - yes loads of us find it helps. Google Bowen therapy or Tom bowen to get a load of sites with info and history. It does SOUND a bit esoteric - but it made a big difference to me pre-pred and even if it doesn't help the PMR for you personally, many of us find it is as good a relaxant as massage but far less painful for PMR people than massage can be. It is particularly useful where people have other muscle problems alongside the PMR - it relaxes spasmed muscles and removes their effect so very often you manage with a lower pred dose for the PMR. If it is for you you will notice a difference an a few session - if it doesn't work at all, then it probably isn't worth continuing. So it isn't an open-ended committment like chiropractic can be.

Good news is always welcome especially after six years of Pred. Hope it continues for you as it did for me ( eight years in all! )

I echo what Eileen says about even low doses being important and therefor not to be treated cavalierly. I've said this on here before but I think it's worth repeating: I was told to keep taking my 1mg. while recovering from hip replacement and I did and all was fine but the pharmacist was adamant that even this low dose mattered especially at a time of added stress.
