First 30 days with Betahistine

The doctor started me on 8mg 3 x day of Betahistine to make sure I don't have serious side effects. She also prescribed Acetazolamide (Desyrel)125mg x 2 daily. I have had some relief but unfortunately I don't know if it was the Betahistine, the diuretic or a combination of both. I will be moving to 16mg Betahistine shortly so hopefully there will be more improvement. One big surprise, silence. I have had Tinnitus for many years before Meniers, sometimes my ears scream. Usually not that severe but always there. I just noticed a few days ago that something was different but I couldn't put my finger on it. Then it dawned on me, it was quiet.

    Hey John,

I happy that you have the joy of silence. Not me my friend. I am on 24mg of betahistine every 8 hours and it does not help the tinnitus at all but my hearing aids do. I hope that you are still doing okay.

    All the best mate...

Unfortunately my tinnitus returned. I have no idea why it temporarily subsided. I am now on 16mg betahistine every 8 hours but I don't think it is working at all for me. I have never had a major vertigo problem, my big symptom is head pressure that causes discomfort and confusion. The tinnitus I have had for many years. What were your symptoms that got you to start betahistine? Has it helped you other than the tinnitus? Years ago they tried me on a pair of earpieces like hearing aids but they produces a white noise that was supposed to help but it didn't.
