First abnormal pap

i just had my first abnormal pap

they didnt tell me much but that it was low risk

they do want to do a colposcopy because of my age she said but its 3 weeks out so im stressing.

can someone tell me more about their expierences with abnormal paps or colposcopy?!

    For a start, abnormal but low risk pap smears are common and often you dont need any treatment at all. You seem to be getting great treatment so do make sure you go for the colposcopy as the tiny samples taken will be sent to pathology and will tell you and your consultant exactly what is happening with the cells on your cervix.

    Please dont stress yourself although it is quite normal for us ladies to worry ourselves when it is not necessary, and your consultant will know this.

    Bear in mind this is low risk and any necessary treatment can be carried out at the same time as the colposcopy...with your consent of course. Abnormal does not mean cancer.

      thank you so much for responding. i did the terrible thing and went straight to google.

      i did have full std scan and urine anaylsis at same time as pap. everything std was negative but in my urine i did have blood, bacteria and mucus (i was starting my cycle) so im praying this is nothing serious and everything will be fine.
