First (and last?) physio 😎

Posted , 12 users are following.

Just been for my first physio appointment at 4 weeks after revision.

When I said to the physio that I was doing 4 to 5 miles walking he said "a week?", and was surprised when I said "no, every day".

He checked out my range of movement and strength and could not believe that I had the revision 4 weeks ago today.

He's given me a few extra 'special' exercises with a large 'rubber band', and cleared me to rejoin my gym, which is fantastic news.  He agreed that golf will have to wait another six months because of the twisting involved, so I'll restart that in the new year.

All in all, I am making such wonderful progress, and he agreed that it is all down to regular cycling and my hard work in the gym before the ceramic in my hip joint broke.

cool

Oh yes, and I have had the last blood thinning injections today, and ripped off those awful compression stockings too! cheesygrin

I was fortunate and didn't have to wear those stockings for too long after surgery. They are far worse than the regular compression socks. We often wear the compression sleeves (the no foot ones)  if doing a lot walking while traveling. Those don't bother me at all like the hospital issued ones did.

Gym will be great so you can choose what you want to do.

I am surprised that the procedures are much different in some areas. I am taking 325 mg. buffered aspirin for the blood thinning, for blood clots. And didn't have to wear the compression stockings at all this time. I did on the previous total hip replacement 14 years ago,but not this time. I had my total hip replacement done in Marquette, Michigan.

It amazes me too - so many differences between countries, hospitals and surgeons.

I am just glad to be rid of the stockings again.

Great news and well done! Hope your golf won't have suffered through the period of inactivity. One of my friends who has had both hips done, back surgery and a heart attack played a few holes at a short course after recovering and hit a hole in one on the first!

Mike,  It'll take more than a new hip to improve my golf, to play as badly as I do takes real talent!

Most important is that you enjoy playing the game and will do it without pain.

That makes two of us. I played on Monday. Dreadful score but an enjoyable day with old friends.

Absolutely fantastic. Four weeks seem to have flown by for me, I bet they haven’t for you. I have one of those rubber band things in a rather fetchsome burgundy! Given me by the physio.

Actually,I don't know where the 4 weeks have gone

My band is a very pretty shade of green, cheap, easy to use and very effective
