First drive post op.

Well last week had a little drive, but found it a bit sore and painful trying to lift foot onto clutch pedal. So left it for a week.
Had another go this morning and it was no problem. Drove to our nearest butchers which is just over 15 minutes away and back with ease. I am 7 weeks post op today, walking 1.1/2 miles a day without walking aids and doing all the exercises i was told to. Feel a bit stiff and sore by middle of the afternoon, So usually sit and read for an hour before starting the dinner which hubby finishes off when he gets in from work.
It is so true what people on here say, that you improve day by day. So if you feeling that you will never feel better, you will. Just take it at your own speed. Don't rush.xx

Sounds like you are going great guns. I'm 2 weeks post op. Have non cemented hip so can't imagine life just yet without crutches.
Well done. Great to hear your progress....

Hi Rob,
Thanks for your reply. I also had a cementless, ceramic and plastic hip. I could manage to walk indoors with one crutch at 2 weeks but needed 2 outdoors. But this is my second hip to be done and i am definately recovering a lot quicker this time round. Think sometimes with the first one you are a bit nervous of doing damage. If you can get it, ask your physio if you can have hydrotherapy. Makes exercises so much easier and after it feels, great not so stiff.
All the best to you, you'll soon be without those crutches.x

Hi Christine,
Glad you're doing well. So true what you say, day by day you see improvements. Take it steadily, and rest when you need to. I'm 13 weeks today, and feeling pretty normal. ( Though still don't sleep on my operated side!) Wishing you all the best.

well done, girl --- ultimately it is our own responsiblity in regards to driving -
as said many times before, listen to your body - be aware of your posture when you walk and use cane when you feel you start limping --- so easy to go back to limping (almost by default) -
big warm hug
