First game of 7-a-side football

I know it's probably not top of surgeons' lists of thing for people to do after a THR, but.... having had my op at the end of June last year, I went back to my 'ageing fools' 7-a-side football game last night.  All fine this morning!  It was great to feel that I can do this again after 18 months away from it (in the latter stages, I was just useless, dragging my leg around...) I can run again!

Just to let people know that you can carry on an active life post-THR!  Cycling, doing Tai Chi and going on a walking holiday in Shetland in a few weeks and another in northern Spain in June.  Hoping you too will be able to get out there smile  - for those of you going under the knife soon, IMO it's really really worth it!

Great to hear Neil! I'm 3 weeks post op and itching to get back on my bike :-)

Same! I'm 4 weeks post op, looking to do first session in about 12.65 days.

Planning on exercise bike initially (no top tube to navigate) before thinking about anything on road - bit concerned about cleats and internally rotating leg to unclip.

Have you had any cycling specific advice?

      Cheers

Hi Neil lovely positive post. I can't wait to exercise again and get fit. I've spent the last year in terrible pain that it wasn't possible. So nearly 5 weeks post op this has brightened up my day.

Love this. Very encouraging for people like me who are waiting for an op. There's no way on earth I could run around a football pitch at the moment.

This is just what I wanted to hear mate.

    4 weeks post op.

New joint improving daily, but struggling with the wound area badly still.

So good to hear you have got back on the pitch. I can't wait to do the same and hit the golf course too !

Been struck down for last couple of years with my right hip. When you come from a sport background, its been absolute mental torture not being able to do anything. Have been heartbroken everything was taken away from me.

Time can't go quick enough for me so I can hopefully get back to the things I love too.

Thanks for the positive post 🙂
