First long spell of dizziness, brain fog etc

Posted , 7 users are following.

So I was fine relatively speaking until 2 weeks ago watching Netflix when I had a bad attack of dizziness and nausea which led to vomiting. Since then I've had dizzy spells almost daily, some stronger and longer than others but daily which is new for me. The ringing in my left ear has been higher than usual and my ear feels very full. I've been a bit stressed lately due to work. Maybe that's a factor. just wanted to ask you good people if this is normal and is there any chance it'll stop!! I'm going to visit physio tomorrow and investigate Jonh of Ohio regime. Any thoughts would be appreciated

I was fine too until the night before my son’s wedding and it continued for like two months and I’m finally back to normal but really gave up on salt. And I take a water pill. They had me on prednisone when I had my bad attack. Mine was all due to stress. Hope your normal comes back soon

My salvation has been high dose betahistine - on specialist medical advise I have taken as much as 64mg tds for 5 months with no side effects. It reduced the tinnitus to low background, got rid of ear fullness and I am now in my second period of remission - 30 months and counting. I can lead a normal life so I urge you to try it.

    Good luck.

If he lives in the states it is hard to get because it is not FDA approved and doctors won’t subscribe it probably because of fear of law suits😢

Peter, I live in Montana and I take Betahistine.  When I first informed my ENT about Betahistine he said he had never heard of it. I asked him to please look it up. He did and gave me a prescription. I get it from a compounding pharmacy. You can get it in the US and I have never heard anything about law suits.

Betahistine in America? Yes You Can!!

I live in California and have a current prescription for Betahistine thru a Walgreens full service compound pharmacy. You first have to locate a compound pharmacy who can special order the ingredient so your Doctor knows where to send the prescription. You also have to let your Doctor know that the Betahistine prescription has to show 90 (3 times daily, one month supply) capsules and the dosage amount, 8, 16,32, or 64 mg, etc. Betahistine comes in bulk powder so the compound technician in the pharmacy will need to have the prescription to be very specific.

If you search in Google using "betahistine how to order", in the results you will see a page that is titled

"betahistine and serc availability", this will take you to a very useful page on how to order betahistine in the United States by Timothy C. Hain, MD.

I went to three doctors and specialist and they all said no, they said it causes a rush to your ear that is why it works, but it also causes flushes through your body. I would for sure try it, I just can’t het my hands on a prescription . Why would you even need a prescription for something like that 😢

It is breathtaking the level of ignorance that some healthcare professionals display - those comments are utter drivel. Find another specialist who is up to to date with the research. Someone who specialises in Aural Physiology would be best.

Where betahistine is licensed it is only available on prescription.

      Keep trying.

Hi. I live in the US. I was able to get betahistine with a prescription from Canada Pharmacy. My doctor told me to get it from there. It was a painless process and reasonably priced. It takes about 2 weeks to get them initially but refills can be timed to avoid any delays. I only wished he had told me about them before my sac decompression surgery.  They worked briefly after my surgery and then I started getting too much dizziness and worse balance issues. I was on 8 mg 3x per day a low dose. I’m glad to hear about so many successful outcomes by others.

      Hey Rubye,

Good to know about Canada Pharmacy that delivers to the United States.

i see that Canada Pharmacy has 24mg betahistine listed at $45.00 for 100 capsules -no insurance

Walgreens with insurance has 24mg betahistine priced at $53.00 for 90 capsules.

Nucara Compound Pharmacy without insurance has 24mg betahistine priced at $63.00 for a 30 day supply. I forgot to ask the quantity, most likely the price is for 90 capsules which appears to be the standard 30 day supply. I hope that you are spin free. All the best my friend!
