First outbreak but I need answers

If my blisters are popping does that mean the outbreak will be ending soon? Does the outbreak suppose to smell? During the outbreak should I wash or wait until it's over?

It should not smell and you can still wash like normal to keep the area clean (pat dry well). Bursting is part of the process, but it is not over yet. After bursting, the lesions typically ulcerate before starting to heal, which may or may not involve crusting/scabbing (depends on the location). Sometimes, with first outbreaks only, a second crop of lesions may form about a week later.

The second crop of lesions I mentioned are technically part of the first outbreak. Back to back outbreaks are not common and are much, much milder than the first, so don't worry!

Well this is a little personal but after you had a outbreak have you ever had sex or you always go to the Drs to make sure it's safe to have it first

Lol, well, I haven't had sex since! Sex is what damaged my health, so though I miss sex, I am honestly less keen about it after being given this ugly virus. Maybe one day, but certainly not now. Other herpsters have sex, though. No need to see a doc first. Just make sure you are fully healed, give it a couple of extra days as buffer, and take precautions (condoms, daily suppressive meds). You need to determine your type, as it makes a difference to infectiousness as well as frequency.

Well when I found out I said the same thing like I'm never having sex again but I'm tired of saying I'll never do this or that so I'll let everything just flow with me and my partner and I hope since this is my first outbreak that I know when it's over for that particular time. I guess it won't be hard to tell as well as I'm sure it won't be hard to tell when the outbreak is on its way back so I'll just play it out

Oh, I didn't change the way I am either! I still eat and drink what I like. No way am I going to change my diet and entire life because of herpes! Only main difference is that I now take multivitamins and have lost interest in sex. I am not in a relationship and I think that makes a *big* difference regarding the latter. I just can't be bothered attempting to date anew with this, having to explain things, facing the likely rejection, and if not that, then worrying about sex, etc. It will take a rare and special person to accept me now and make me change my mind, so I am not particularly hopeful.

You are so right about the being in a relationship situation. If I wasn't in a relationship right now I probably wouldn't even mention sex in my questions. But thanks so much you helped me out a lot.

Get some Zovirax cream from your doctor. They will go away in 3days

My Dr said there is no cream that would help...now I'm lost

Current medical advice is to treat genital herpes with any one of the three approved oral meds, not the topical treatments, because the oral meds are systemic, with the added benefit of reducing transmission if taken daily. However, I tried acyclovir cream (intended for cold sores) anyway, because why not, and I found that it actually helps hasten healing. Doesn't reduce transmission, though.

That is the cream, I have it now. Google it!

I'm gonna ask my Dr to prescribe me some...I'm taking 2000mg/valtrex a day and still having OB one after another! Idk wtf is going on, soon as it seems like it's clearing up another set comes out...I'm losing all hope here

I had OBs back to back too. That's why I just decided to take meds everyday. Also try lysine 1000, vitamin C & a multivitamin to boost your immune system. You could have a low immune system to cause the OBs or stress

I've tried lysine and vitamin c also the garlic and eating raw veggies and STILL HAVING OB back to

      Back

I'm sorry to hear that. That's why I take the pills everyday. Those big dark blue ones. They are a life saver for me

Do you think I'll have outbreaks all the time being as though I have Gental herpes?

    • Posted

It depends on your body. How your immune system is, how you live your life. You almost have to change your life style to prevent OBs. Exercise, eat healthy, take vitamins. Chocolate, stress, sex, like anything can cause an OB.

Wow I wonder what makes having sex cause a outbreak. This is just making me sad.

The cream should be available over the counter. Comes in a tiny tube. Mine is generic, so not branded Zovirax. Works well for me. Have you had any of your back to back recurrences swab tested? It is most unusual to experience such frequency with herpes, especially while on the meds as well. Just wondering if it is something indirectly related and not actually herpes.

No, back to back outbreaks are not common. Triggers also vary from person to person, so you don't need to change your diet unless you find something is triggering. I still consume chocolate, nuts, caffeine, occasional alcohol, etc.

Friction, so use lube. Not everyone has this issue, however. Also, you don't even know which type you have. If Type 1, you're unlikely to have outbreaks again, just once a year if that. Trucker and Bri sound like they both have Type 2, which is more frequently occurring (though shouldn't be as frequent as back to back; that is not common). If you don't know your HSV type, it's important that you find out.

      That's what I'm

Thinking.. No way it should come back to back while taking this much meds..

Wow ok thanks I just can't wait until this first out break is over so I can see how long of a normal like I can love again until the next one

    • Posted

I do know my type I have type 2 . And wow I wish I could pick which one to have now since this comes frequently

Yep, when the clinic suspected herpes in my case, I was hoping, praying even, for Type 1, but no such "luck". I have Type 2 as well.

Will this cream help my genital herpes? This is crazy that I'm having constant OB..

It helps make the blisters/bumps & tingling go away fast
