i have had my first hsv outbreak. i havent been to the dr to get tested yet for it specifically. i was having some itching and weird smelling discharge so i went and got tested unaware that hsv would not be included. i tested negative for everything except bv. i was given antibiotics to clear the bv, but it wasnt going away. it then turned into painful sores. i am now on day 7 of this. i have ordered the anti-viral meds that everyone recommends. they will be here tomorrow, but in the meantime. i need some sort of advice on pain management. i passed out from the pain this morning while trying to urinate. taking a shower/bath also stings, walking, standing, etc. i feel like i just cant catch a break with these. i have tried the lidocaine cream and i feel like it made the burning worse. i also tried femiclear herpe cream that did nothing. with Tylenol and ibpophren. what do i do? is it just a waiting game until it starts to heal? there has to be some sort of relief as this is genuinely unbearable.@

take a salt bath. while peeing pour a cup of warm water over yourself and drink a lot of water throughout the day to dilute your pee. start taking lysine and zinc and vitamin C with antivirals every morning. stay away from nuts and chocolate for awhile. they are high in argienne and that can lead to more frequent outbreaks. lidocaine ointment may also be helpful to numb the lesions

only in a really bad case. Best to go to a clinic that does a full STI panel, make sure to ask for HSV testing, it is not normally included on a routine panel. if you have active cuts or lesions inside or outside ask for a culture test. Blood tests can give false positives, but culture tests are almost 99% accurate.

Soak in a hotbath, use Epsom salt if possible. Paracetamol helps for pain management. Acyclovir is a great anti viral medication for this virus.
Diet can also trigger herpes.... In your protein cells there is arginine and lysine, this comes from a variety of foods. The virus needs high amounts of arginine to activate whereas lysine prevents any activation. I personally find that anything with high in wheat is a nightmare, cereals I avoid. Research this... You can also get supplementary lysine from Holland and Barretts. There are many other things you can try.
I really hope your feeling better soon, usually the first outbreak is the worst. Hang in there
