hi

just registered after reading this forum a few times previously,i was diagnosed when i was 32 with cs by my doc after going to see him with severe headaches, didnt go earlier as my mind was frightening me to death with awful ideas of what it could be.

now im 47 so for 15 years ive had to live with this thing,it was ok up until last year when it decided to step up a gear,id had the crispy neck ,pain in arms, legs shoulders ,etc, but last year it decided to really give me some grief,my arm started to go dead while i was asleep,my left foot was swelling up on a regular basis, the sensitivity in my head got worse and my face grew sensitive too, add to that the fact i was dianosed with blood pressure and you can see i wasnt very happy about it.

after 6 weeks off work i felt a little better probably down to a course of neproxen id been priscribed.

its not always easy to fight the symptoms of this desease even when youre adamant its not going to beat you,but it is good to know that others are there to listen and give advice.

i used to have an active sporting life including body building which ive had to give up,i love working on and driving my car ,but after so long its uncomfotable to sit in one position, when watching tv at home im i have to change the direction im looking as my neck begins to ache, ive gone through more new pillows than i care to think about, and even laying in a bath is hard because of the pertruding bones in my neck which rub.

if any of these symptoms relate to you its just to let you know youre not on your own,i like to call it good days and bad,ive been told that it could eventually require surgery, but until then im doing the best i can to live my life and enjoy it.

its good to see this forum ,and to see people expressing a genuine wish to help and advise others,

stu

ps please excuse my crappy spelling

    Hiya Stu, smile

Welcome to the \"Happy Neck Nut House\"

It is a killer this perishin' condition, takes you clean off your feet sometimes, then you get ok-ish and think 'what was all that about?'

Have you had any scans Stu ?

Plenty of humour here, check out the 'remmedies' some excellent advice there, ignore the ones about the 'falling down water' though

I have not had a bath for over three years ( yes Gerry I do have a shower though) I can't sit down and if I could i wouldn't be able to get back up again, the last time I tried it a few months ago I tried kneeling on my foot stool, did that ok but couldn't hold the position, and fell forward on my forhead, thank god my daughter was here, she thought I was crying when she rushed in, I was shaking with laughter, I must have looked a right twerp!! smile

take care Stu, keep us updated

    hi

thanks for the reply, yeah i got my neck xrayed last year when i was off work,it showed that it was curved out (which i already knew) but the doc said it was okay for the moment, the one thing i really hate is when i get a lump in my throat because of it and cant swallow.still i really try to always look on the brighter side but must admit to sometimes being selfish and just wishing it would give me a day off

    Hiya Stu, smile

Gonna git bossy again  smile

Ask your GP to refer you to a Rheumatologist or Neurosurgeon they may be able to help, some wonderful things can be done with the spine these days.

Have you tried a lickle bit of heat on your back, it can be quite useful for a bit of relief.

    Take Care
