First Time Emergency

I am from Germany but live in Alabama usa.

My first attack with Pancreatities scarred me to death because I also suffer from Panic Attacks.

I felt horrible pain in my upper stomach then toward my back, what was really Strange that I had signs of a Panic Attack on top.

I was laying on the couch and all I did was calling 911.

They gave me in the EMERGENCY Morphin and Diagnosed me after mri with Acute Pancreatities.

3 days ago I had the same happen again but my friend was there to help me.

My Question is with the Right Diet can I get over this and what Medicaments over the Counter and Prescribed do help.

Thank you for Reading

Yes you can get thru this by allowing your pancreas to heal.

Try eating low fat diet and stop drinking for six months, youll slowly start to recover, it just takes a little time.

You also might want to try antioxidants and vitamins to speed up your healing.

Do you know what is causing you to have recurring episodes?

Best thing if you have an attack is no food at all for a few days.

As far as medication for pain is antispasmadic medication or muscle relaxers.

As far as for over the counter, ill suggest empsom salt orraly(1 or 2 tspns) itll make your bilary track relax in case you have a stone stuck in your gallbladder or pancreas duct.

Hi Sibylle, I'm sorry you have this horrid condition but on the bright side you have a non refutable diagnosis, others endure years without one.

Whilst support and tips from other sufferers is available here I wonder if you have seen your doctor since your ER admission you don't mention ongoing care?

It would be usual for you to be referred to a specialist or at least back to your usual doctor to monitor the situation and prescribe meds for you including pancreatic enzymes.

You should be careful about your diet and eliminate alcohol from now on as recurrences are common and can become extremely serious very quickly.  When an attack occurs it can mean hospital and no food by mouth for a couple of days, pain management and general monitoring.

I was diagnosed with Chronic Pancreatitus. I too live in the USA. Unfortunately medical care here in the USA is spotty. I lived in Vermont for 2 years and watched my weight go down to 99 lbs. I was in constant pain. I just moved to Florida and they are on top of things. I have been put on Creon and the pain is livable. But you need a good GI and follow up care. I had additional tests yesterday so I am still a work in progress. Please see a good Gastro guy and keep me updated. I have never drank so that part is easy. .

Thank you for the Response .I hardly drink any Alcohol ever. Before the second Episode I ate salad with oil and did drink a lot of apple Cider.

Also I did not strictly live on a Diet.

      Now I know better.

I just wonder why I am so shaky and almost not more k own what's going on when.one of those Attacks happen.

What is your first Emergency medicine beside al.ost nothing to eat.

      Thank you again
