First time home with a foley catheter...help

Posted , 3 users are following.

I was unable to eliminate or urinate this morning just a small amount at a time.

Ended up in ER, they did a catheter and eliminated it..felt good to be empty

Then sent me home with a foley catheter and bag ...yucky!😬

It feels weird, kinda pressure like, I don't like walking in it. It hurts, looks, I am trying to be tough but a week to wait for audiologist...I will never make it.

I'm confused.  Do you have a UTI?  Why couldn't you eliminate?  What was the diagnosis?

What does this have to do with an audiologist?

It is a urologist and my auto correct changed it before I noticed.

They said I had a slight uti but it most likely from a catheter injury 20 years ago.

Anyway please tell me about foley catheters?! Help so much discomfort.

Sorry, I don't have knowledge about the Foley catheter.   I'm sure there is plenty of scholarly information abou them if you google.   I do know that there is more UTI risk with any catheter.

It is out now. It was extremely uncomfortable and I couldn't walk or sit with out feeling an internal jabbing.

Maybe okay if your in bed not moving around.

I made it about 12 hours.

Seen a urologist and in 5 minutes he did a simple procedure and I am back to normal.

      Avoid ER call the urologist!!!
