First Time Insomniac Help please

Hi everyone. So a few days ago I went to bed like everything was normal...and that night it began. I just could sleep, this went on 68 hours until my body finally maybe me sleep 4-6 hours. I am now trying to get to sleep again but I can't. I feel like I'm trying everything. I'd say I have a bit of stress and anxiety which doesn't help, nor where I live but I really am trying to relax. I'm scared that this is it now. Why this all of a sudden and why such severe insomnia? Thanks

It is pure hell I have had sleeping problems for two years now I wake up every two hours but I do go back to sleep. Anxiety has caused most of it with paining my knees. I take sleep aide from Costco it is the only thing that helps me sleep. I do not know what to tell you but dont WORRY about it or you will get in a viscous fight with sleep. God blessπŸ™πŸ™πŸ™

Thanks for your reply Jones. I'm sorry to hear you've been suffering with it for two years that's horrible. Last night I managed to get 3-4 hours with a dream. This is all new to me and completely out of the blue, I have no idea what's going on. Why all of a sudden out of nowhere did I not sleep 68 hours?!?! And then last two nights 4-6 hours and 4. Will my sleep return back to normal? My eyes are heavy and exhausted and so is my mind but they never seem to actually turn off?

hi i to suffered from insomni that started two years ago..was sleeping 2,3,4 hrs a night..i started to worry until i was sleeping every other night sometimes staying awake for 40 hrs each time.i began to fear sleep..then one day i just stopped letting it consume my life started to go out and enjoy myself again and not be obsessed with sleep..last year i had 3 sleepless nights in all..and was sleeping every night 4/5/6/7/hrs..now i have started to sleep 8/9 hrs a night again.i accept some nights i will toss and turn when i have things on my mind but i know i will sleep great the nxt night..honestly stop worrying about sleep it will come back back.stop chasing sleep and telling yourself you cant..stay in bed and rest when you are awake..thats better than the advice they give you to keep getting up.that made me more active and kept the belief i should be awake at night alive..no rest is just as good..last night i slept 11 hrs ..you will be ok.

HI Chrissy thanks for the reply. I'm glad you have managed to get your sleep back up to the 8 or 9 hours range. Last night I slept 8 hours like I normally do. My trouble was I hadn't slept at all, nothing in three days, which was starting to worry me. I tried everything (without any aids) and nothing worked but now I'm hoping tonight that I'll get good quality again. As I said, I'm not an insomniac, I had never experienced anything like that before. I've had an insight into their world and will always be hugely empathetic of someone who says they have not slept, it's a living hell.

Try drinking a glass of hot adult formula milk 1 hour before sleep. It might help. If you could drink 2 glasses a day but space it out or you end up going to the toilet middle of the night.

Google how digital devices have blue light which disrupt sleep. Try install apps like twilight to switch your phone to block blue light and see if it helps. You could also try not to look at digital devices 1 to 2 hours before bed. It does disrupt your sleep. You might want to try getting a pair of block blue light glasses and wear it few hours before sleep. It will help.

Soak your feet in a small basin before bed in slightly hot water. It helps too.

Magnesium oil sleep spray also helps. Lack of Vitamin D can also affect sleep.
