First trip outside

Posted , 7 users are following.

Well hubby has just been outside for his first walk. Day 8. We have a small park over the road from our house, and he has just walked round the perimeter about 800 - 900 steps, which I think is pretty good going he is obviously still using 2 crutches and I kept urging him to slow down a bit but am very proud of him. Have a lovely Sunday x x

Good job Debbie`s hubby. Walking no matter how far is great exercise for us Hippies. It was a big part of my recovery plan. I did 4 walks a day around, even if in the beginning it was around the house so not to over do thing. By week 5 I was walking without any aids and no more limp.

He loves walking and is a very active 64 yr old so my only problem is slowing him down, but am sure he will only do what feels comfortable. Thanks for the advice, have a lovely day

sounds like a good walk, first steps are really important and encourage the recommended exercises too.

The dreaded socks......only on his non operated leg at moment as the other one is too swollen, I hate the things with a passion lol

Great stuff Debbie.. Some set days I just did the hall and put my phone timer on so it didn't seem so boring. Keep him at it. The consultant I had thinks walking is the best exercise. ♥♥♥

Wet days I meant. I was afraid to go outside alone on wet ground when on two crutches.

Great job Mrs Debbie! Keep up the good work, but take care not to overdo it.
