First two Stents in my heart now gull bladder someone please help me????

Hi, my name is Melissa, I am 34 and for over one year now I have had, what felt like heart attacks to me. Almost every time I ended up in the ER with them only taking my blood and doing an EKG on me, then they would tell me to follow up with my doctor. Most of the time I made it to the ER the pain would have subsided, not this last time, it was happening to me every 30min or so and the hospital kept me inpatient for 4 days before doing tests on me. Taking a tube down my esophagus they saw scarring from acid reflex, doing an ultrasound they found stones and inflammation. They had me scheduled the next day for surgery to take my gull bladder out, however, something on my EKG made them want to check my heart at the last minute, they put dye in it and sure enough I had an 80% blockage. Now they fixed that and sent me home. I am on all kinds of meds including blood thinners, and I had an attack today that was very bad. The heart doc. said, "No surgery for at least two months, we would like to go one year though". So next time I have an attack I am sure I will end up in the ER and having my Gull Bladder removed. Has this happened to anyone else? How worried should I be? Please tell me what you think, as it is now, I have only had one low fat yogurt a day, for about 6 days now.

What an awful time you've had. I'm just biologist/medical writer but....

Have they said that these events may be connected? It's just that most gallstones are made of cholesterol and people may have a condition where they produce too much (rather than just eat too much) . Some can end up as gallstones and the some helping to block the arteries of your heart -  thus blockages.

If that's the case, it's really important that you are given cholesterol reducing drugs ie statins. Are these one of the pills? Clot busters should keep you safe and they may have given you beta blockers to make your heart work less hard?/

I guess they've asked you to do only gentle exercise? Btw were you breathless before your attacks? Swollen ankles?

From the fact that you use ER not A and  E ... could you be American? If so you and to go an talk this over with your Primary Care Provider/local MD - w say GP here.

Let us know how things go on?

    Best wishes

I am American yes, I talked with my primary care provider for two years and he told me the whole time that it was anxiety and put me on meds that knocked me out, for two years until the attacks happened every 20 minutes and I tested negative for every test known for the heart, even the stress test. They knew nothing until they went inside me. My meds are omeprazole, clopidogrel, and atorvastatin. Thanks for sharing, I will do some research. I know that my doctor ask me if anyone ever looked into my anemia? “I did not know they were supposed to”, was my reply. I know nothing

I am also worried because I feel I was having heart attacks, but the hospital said it was Angina, however, I feel they just said that to cover their backs because I have been there many times and they never did anything till I almost died. They had me laying there having attacks ever 20minutes for 4 days befor they started doing any test.

Btw. You may want to find out if you the blood they kept taking was to see if you had a heart attack? During a heart attack cardiac protein leaks out. They may have let you go home because it wasn't an attack but angina.

Also, the fact that you had scarring on the oesophagus from reflux may have made them think that the pain was from your stomach (not heart). At your age this would be more likely.

So... I think that's why they may have been sending you back.

    Hi Mel

You have come out very well since you had 80% blockage.

I assume you are on asprin ! maybe warfrin to thin the blood. If you are unhappy pester you GP that is what he/she is there for.

    Good luck

THE TEST of ALL TESTS is an angigram. A camera is inserted near your groin ( there is NO pain ), it is pushed up to your heart ( again NO pain ). It takes about 20 minutes to do, you can watch it on a monitor. I had this test done, it showed  I had ALL 4 arteries blocked had a 3 way by pass in 3 weeks later.

    Good luck

That's what they did to find my block, but they went into my arm first and it got stuck so then they went into my groin, it's how they put the stents inside too.

It was the only test that showed something was wrong

So you are on a statin to provent more cholesterol deposits and also the clopidogrel works on platelets to prevent blood clotting. The omeprazole stops your stomach producing excess stomach acid - GERD can give cardiac like pains.

No beta blockers - a surprise.

Yoy have anew Primary , right? All the best

If they can do key hole surgery (less deep anaesthesia) then the gall bladder might be fine.

Hope it goes well. Let us know how things go?
