I now have orthotics (insoles) that I wear in my shoes all the time. These are made of plastic that is heated in water and moulded to the foot to get the exact fit (by the Podiatrist). Although I am limited to what shoes I can wear, these are FANTASTIC and now I can walk without pain. I also do the gentle stretching exercises and don't walk barefoot or wear flipflops.

It started with my feet aching in the morning as I walked down stairs.
Some days it is fine, on others like today (after examination) I have to limp on tip toes on my right foot.
The pain varies from nagging all the way up to "don't want to take another step".
The only foot wear I currently have which eases the pain is a pair of beach sandles with a 1 inch thick foam sole (but they make my feet smell).
I wear these constantly at home.
The doctor asked me why I wasn't taking pain killers and I couldn't answer the question.
Thinking about it afterwards, all that does is mask the pain.
What I need is to fix the problem...
I neally cancelled the appointment this morning as it wasn't hurting earlier.
I'm glad I went to see my GP, he gave me exactly the same advice on this site which is top class.
I now know that I'm not imagining it and not complaining unnecessarily.
