Fishy smell and lots of white discharge - but not at the same time!

Hi I have noticed today and I am embarrassed to say this, that I have had a fishy smell coming from my private area. There is no discharge and I have only had it today, but on other days there are clumps of white thick discharge that accumulate in my underwear and the discharge doesn't smell fishy at all, it's just frustrating. I also get patches of white stuff on my labia too, which is thicker and smells cheesy. Have I got multiple infections going on? I am not sexually active so I don't know what's causing all of this. Thanks smile

Sounds normal. It could be from a yeast infetion, which is also common. Ask your GP for a professional opinion and suggestions about remedies and suggested hygiene procedures.

Thanks, as long as it doesn't involve a smear test, pelvic exam or internal exam I can accept any other investigative tests. Period problems wouldn't fall into this, would they, or is that a long shot?

This sounds like a mixed bacterial vaginitis. Flagyl is the usual treatment but you will need to discuss this with your GP. One way or the other it is very treatable and you should not have to put up with it. Good luck.

Thanks, is it likely I'll need to have an internal exam? I've not had one done before, am not sexually active and I was assaulted some time ago. So any noninvasive action from the GP would benefit me more.

Vaginal examination should not be essential at this stage. Go to a female doctor and explane your situation. Good luck.
