Fissure higher up that anal fissure

Hi

Im really hoping someone can help. Im a 40 yr old male, Ive been suffering for the last 6 months with fissure like symptoms, except that the pain is higher up, possibly in my rectum. At times I get a sharp stinging pain (like a cut), at others a constant sore feeling. Im at my witts end! Ive been prescribed nitro gts ointment (the one that relaxes the muscle), my stools are soft, I have plenty of fibre, I walk daily, but it just wont go away, and over the past few weeks has got worse. I was sitting working the other day and I felt the sting, and ever since Ive been in discomfort. Fortunately I have an appointment booked in with a specialist in Jan (my first face to face appointment due to covid).

i just wondered whether anyone else has had this, and what are their coping mechanisms. And most importantly what can i do to heal and for pain relief?
