Fissure reoccurance

Hi guys,

I have been reading all the posts. I am having a recurrence of a anal fissure. I think I have a sentinel pile as a result as well. Mine has reoccurred because I had two lots of antibiotics and very loose bowels. I had been managing it pretty pain free for 3yrs. But I forgot how painful it can be. I can't walk properly, I can't sit properly. Everything hurts and I'm barely sleeping. I'm just taking panadol and nurofen around the clock. I'm trying to stay from any constipation stronger medication. I have been using sitz baths 3-4 times daily (20 mins) with Epsom salts, rectogesic cream and wipes, using haemorrhoid cream, Vaseline, bought a ring pillow, taking stool softeners, eating minimal but only fruit, vegetables with some fish and drinking three litres of water a day. But still as painful as when it appeared again 5 days ago.....I'm seeing my doctor on wed for confirmation and referral to specialist.....my issue my bowels I think are becoming to loose. I decreased the stool softener to one at night and still fairly loose this morning......I think I'm pretty much trying everything....anyone got any ideas ....thanks in advance Tanya

Oh dear, I feel your pain.

I was in the same situation when they misdiagnosed me for prostatitas and gave me antibiotics ...

The worst for this condition for me was figuring out how to go to the bathroom no more than once a day and would still be painful for about 4-6 hours.

Like I was saying , hyper extending my lower back and stretching my lower abs and hip flexor shiver me some relieve.

It sounds like you are doing almost everything...

Hope you feel better and pray for you

      Hey Christian,

      Thanks for replying.

Will implement that in my bathroom routine. I'm willing to try anything this point to get the pain from razor blading 9/10 to below 5/10.

      Thanks

    Hi Tanya

I totally feel your pain, going through the same and I'm doing the same things as you, ridiculous diet, rectogesic, sitz baths etc. I went to see a consultant who gave me a sheet which tells you how to poo properly! It sounds stupid but it's helped me haha, basically get a little stool and rest your feet on that as that's a better position. I'm not completely pain free but it's definitely made a big difference to me, something as little as that. It's worth a try anyway if your not already doing it x

      Hey GC1801,

Thanks for your reply. I guess I will be going stool shopping on Friday. It helps having these forums so at least your not the only person going through it.

Hope yours clears up really soon.

I'm getting my referral on Friday and I'm going to ask the surgeon to book me in for the surgery. I don't ever want to experience this again.

I had one in the past and just came back in last couple weeks.  Got worse after a 24hrs of being in a plane. After reading therse forums the last couple days i will tell you what has given me some relief.  Eating less, Stool softners,Clean up diet, Lots of water, trying to squat when i go.  I did this the last 3 days and has been alot better.  I also have been sitting on a heating pad just about non stop.  Anytime i feel pain i turn it back on.  This has been maybe this biggest relief for me. I have ordered the Honey to try but not in yet. Hope some of this helps.

Here are some suggestions I have for you to help you through:

    1. Try somee zinc oxide in the form of calmoseptine which has menthol to soothe the area down there as well. Calmoseptine can be bought at almost any local drugstore and can be bought online too.

    2. Try squatting when going on the toilet instead of sitting. This is a much  helathier position and the poop sometimes will just slide out,  no pushing or straining involved.

    3. I would definately take a fiber supplement, specifically metamucil  is what I take evveryday,  in ordr to allow your stools to be soft and to allow them to pass thorugh easily. THis being said, with any fiber supplemetn, you must drink lots of water when using them, or they will not work veffectively. Also, do not take too much as too much fiber can irritate your bowels on the way  out and diarreah actually does worse down there.

    4. I would recommend getting a sphicteronomy surgery if htings dont get better. I waited it out, gave up, had the surgery, and was able to heal within about two weeks. I had a chronic fissure, so I knew where you are ocming from with v all the pain and discomfort.

Try listening to music to distract your mind a bit, especially when going to the bathroom. If you are in writing pain, distract yourself with a movie or TV show right after. Also, to prevent myself from screaming and from putting more stress in the area down  there, i bit down on a washcloth in order to make the tensions with my teeth instead of my sphicter muscle.

    Hope this helps!!!

    Best,

    Myles
