Fissure with superficial fistula?

Hello,

Just wondering if anyone has had something similar. I have a fissure that appeared randomly and it healed up on its own but not fully. I visited my colorectal doctor today and she said the bottom healed but there's a small superficial tunnel and recommended fistula surgery. It sounds like she wants to cut it open so it can heal properly and the tunnel is superficial. Just wondering what to expect with surgery that is more on the surface.
