    Hi Mary,

Almost 2 years ago I was stricken by first anal fissure and the GI doctor prescribed Nitroglycerin/Rectiv 0.4% and it was working slowly for 3 weeks and one day the sphincter started spasming that I went to the emergency room and was admitted and the GI doctor performed Botox injection. I was told the Botox was th3 numb the sphincter for 3 months to allow the anal fissure to heal. Five days later I was back in the emergency room admitted for 4 days and the GI doctor performed a sphinterotomy. Having the sphinterotomy helped tremendously. I felt relief immediately. That same year in November the fissure was back not sure what happened but I was admitted and the GI doctor referred the colorectal doctor to see me because he felt he needed another opinion. So, Mary I heard about coconut oil and I used it and it didn't help me. What helped most is the sphinterotomy, nitroglycerin ointment (only over a period of time until I felt better), Mirilax daily, plenty of water and high fiber diet over 25g daily.

Speak with your doctor about other options. I've heard Botox worked for some and not others.

Hope you have relief soon because I know the pain is unbearable.

    Michele.

    Hi Mary,

I understand the pain that your going through at the moment but believe me I had multiple anal fissures which were ulcerated. I tried various things but nothing worked. I was frustrated and was literally felt like there is no escaping from this but I never gave up and started some research of my own. I accidentally stumbled upon a post that said if you apply a betadine ointment for a few times in a day you'll actually find relief from day one. I tried it and believe me from the very first day my Fissures were like completely gone. I know it sounds like unbelievable but it really worked. It's like when you have a wound on your any part of your body you try to keep it clean so that it heals quickly. So this betadine ointment was actually meant to keep the area free from germs and bacteria which helps the Fissures to heal and makes a quick recovery. I know you might have tried everything in your list but I'll suggest you to definitely give it a try. It worked for me and I hope it will work for you too!

Let me know how it goes..

    Take care.

Hi,  Thanks so much for both your help.  On the beta dine ointment, can you buy it over the counter.  Do you just put it on the opening or do you put it inside.  I am so tired of the pain and it is getting to me mentally.  I won't give up, but my colon surgeon said there was only botox, but told me to get a colonoscopy first.  Last month he told me to cancel the colonoscopy because it would cause me too much pain… now he says get it… so confused.

    Hi there..

Just apply the betadine ointment all the way in to the Fissure but let me warn you as soon as you apply it to the Fissure it will give you a stinging sensation so be ready to handle that!

And yeah, you can buy it from any medical store.

Let me know how it goes..

    And remember, apply it thrice.

Once after your morning BM and once in the afternoon and once in the night before going to bed.

Hi I have a partner that had the same problem. I researched every where and found an answer! Olive oil! Cook with it drink it daily like 2tablespoons. Also we have a wet room and when having a bowel movement.. DON'T sit try to STAND a little as our anal tract is slightly straight allows you to have a freer bowel..I made my partner try all of this as he could barely walk after a bowel n pain was excruciating.. He was up for surgery and no longer needs it as he is healed and pain free. Uses olive oil daily!! This was 4yrs ago..no pain since!! Please please try this it takes time but try it!!!
