Hi there. I recently switched from Escitalopram to Sertraline. Escitalopram left me with no motivation and no improvement after 8 weeks the Doctor suggested the switch. That was 5 weeks ago. I was really worried about it but actually felt no big effects. I weaned my self off at half dose for a week then started the sertraline. Its too early to say if this is working better but i really dont have any bad side effects on it. Hope it works for you.

hi ryan, I have been on citalopram 3 times in the past and 8 months or so ago I went back on it, stayed on it for 6 months and it made me so ill this time so 9 weeks ago dr switched me to sertraline, as you can imagine I was very scared and anxious to try yet another drug but plucked up the courage spent a week on15mgs of just cit, then another week of10 mgs of cit and 25 mgs of sert, then a week of 25 mgs of sert with the plan of going up to 50mgs if no problems, I had very mild side effects doing this and within 2 weeks of sert was fairly back to normal, I have stayed on 25mgs of sert for 2 months but last week felt myself slipping back a bit so have increased to 50mgs, I am having a few issues with anxiety, low mood and headaches with the increase but still living a normal life allbeit with a just going through the motions frame of mind but it is early days if increase so will see how it goes. do not be scared to change meds, you may find this one works a treat and it is one they prescribe for children so it can be much kinder on the system, wish I had done it earlier rather then have 6 months of hell. good luck with whatever you decide to do
