Fistula?

Hi everyone. ,For anyone not knowing my story, I had a bowel resection three years ago, ileostomy bag for 3 months and then a successful reversal. The resection was because of a huge bowel abscess that had formed after diverticulitis infection. I have thought for quite a while that I had a fistula. I put off going to the surgeon because I wasn't sure but now I'm quite certain of the symptoms, and so is my surgeon so having an MRI next week. I'm not reading anything about this because all of the stories are just horror stories but I just wondered if anyone has any helpful information for me. My symptoms are faecal anal discharge and passing gas through the vagina, and feeling unwell off and on. My surgeon thinks it's most definitely fistula but he needs to locate the exact place. Any info would be most welcome.
